East Coast Classics is pleased to offer this stunning example of a 1969 Chevy Malibu Chevelle. Started off life as a two owner (second owner purchased it in 1973) 307/Powerglide car. One of the pictures shows the car the way it sat when we purchased it. Since it’s been with us we have made the following upgrades:
· Rebuilt 350 out of a 1979 Corvette.
· Weiand intake
· Holley 650 carb
· Hedman Headers
· Electronic ignition
· Serpentine belt pulley system
· A/C out of a 1998 Chevy S-10 (Ice Cold!)
· New aluminum radiator
· Electric fans
· 700r4 Tranny
· Shortened driveshaft (to accommodate longer tranny)
· Front Disc Brakes
· All new suspension bushings
· New shocks
· New vinyl top
· New 15” wheels with New tires
· Custom X-Pipe dual flow master exhaust
· Fresh paint
· Custom houndstooth interior including the dashpad carpet door panels rear parcel shelf and rear interior quarters
· New weather stripping
· Upgraded Shelby style steering wheel from Grant
· And I’m sure I’m missing something!
We have spent over 6 months building this car. The interior was done and redone three times before it got our seal of approval. Previous owner had painted the car but the quality of both the body work and paint work was not to our liking. We ultimately repainted the car after spending 5 weeks making sure the body panels were aligned and wave free. You can’t buy one and build it anywhere near the likeness of this car for my reserve. We went with a more “old school” approach on this build hence the 15” wheels and the vinyl top. My objective was to build a car I would have loved to have as a kid in the 80’s. The color combination is about as classy as you can get for a muscle car. Turns heads everywhere it goes. Sounds mean at idle and angry under throttle! Goes just as good as it looks. You can own a car that gets just as many looks and thumbs up as a six figure pro touring car for a fraction of the price. It was fun to build and has been a blast to drive around but must now go to a new home. You will not be disappointed. Radio does not work
By the way in defense of the previous owner and the paint job we didn’t agree with. He’s actually a very talented WWII aircraft restorer. His work is phenomenal however due to the large amount of restoration work with the planes he was not able to pay close attention to detail on the Chevelle. Wanted to make that clear as he really is a talented restorer and in case he sees this I don’t want him to think I’m bad mouthing his work!
All prospective buyers should note that this vehicle has a reassigned VIN due to the fact that it was stolen from the original owner many years ago and when it was found the VIN had been removed. It is NOT a rebuilt title car. It has simply had the VIN reassigned. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask.
Also if you like a car with a story behind it this one has a great one. When it was stolen the previous owner was a Police officer in New York and he was the one that found the car and had the thief arrested!
