Description

Up for bids is a 1974 El Camino. I bought 2 of these cars from the same person and have decided to sell this one to fund work on the other. It is a 74 model and although there is a SS emblem on the grille as far as I know it IS NOT an actuall SS. This car was an original 400 engine car but not sure if it still has that engine or not. It may just be a 350 not sure. The engine runs good but it will need the carburetor rebuilt or replaced. If the car sits a couple days you have to prime it and it doesn't take the gas very good when you go down the road. The engine runs fine its just the carb. If you prime it a little it starts right up and idles good. The trans is an automatic and it seems to shift fine it is the turbo 400 with a chrome pan on it. The car was a AC car but the lines have been taken off and I feel the compressor will need replaced also. All the other parts are there and the lines were taken off the correct way NOT cut so it could easily be put back on.I have only run this car up the road a short distance a few times because of no license and the carb problem but it did so with no other problems. It drivesgood on good road and bad or bad road soim sure it will need an alignment to be good. The El Camino has headers and dual exhaust with some kind of turbo mufflers on it. Not real loud till you punch it hard. The brakes seem ok but should be checked before putting it on the road. The interior of this car is pretty decent nice daily driver quality I would say. The dash has some cracks and some gauges work some don't. It has a tilt wheel but it has a little play in it not bad but some. The seat is pretty nice with no holes doors panels are good with only a small defect on the drivers side carpet is new. I think the headliner may have a tear in it but cant remember for sure. All in all the interior looks pretty good for driver quality. The body on this El Camino is very very nice for a 1974 model. The drivers side front floor pan has been replaced with a new one drivers rear floor has been patched and looks decent. both front and rear passenger side I think is good also. Im assuming they are sealed good as it has new carpet installed. The outer body on this car is very solid. I saw only pinholes in a place or two. Both rear quarter panels are solid with only a small place about the size of a nickel on the drivers side where it meets the door nothing major no hole I think just surface. No rust at all around the wheel wells or in front or rear of the wheel wells. The doors are both solid with some slight rust on the very bottom of them I think. No big holes just some light surface rust and some very small rust through maybe the size of a pencil. All in all they are very good. The front fenders have some minor rust which is like a few pinholes if you sanded them no holes now but would probable be a few if you hit them with a grinder but very minor. The tail gate is solid and the bed floor is also. his is a very solid car guys for a 74 model. Cant remember about the remainder of the underneath of it up under the bed etc but I think it was pretty good maybe some minor rust but had it been major I would have noticed it. The frame is very solid no problems there. The paint on this car shines pretty good but there is some clear coat peeling and the top has a couple places where it seems to be cracking up some not sure why maybe it wasn't prepared properly when painted. Not sure when it was last painted but im sure its been quite a while. The car is not rusty but it does need a good block sanding to smooth it out. Some times a skim coat of filler is the best way to get it right. As I said the paint is pretty shiny but it is some what wavy. The front bumper is pretty straight but some chrome peeling on top the rear I don't think is bent but someone drilled a small hole on each end of it for some reason. They would be great candidates for rechroming. All the glass is good except the windshield it is cracked but that's about $175 through Guardian glass or you can pick up a used on from a parts yard for $60 and install it yourself. I was going to replace it before selling it but my local yard was out of them. Guys if your looking for a nice car to have on the road quickly this is it. It just needs some minor things to be road worthy. The paint etc can come later or it would be a good car to restore if that's your thing. The body is very solid for a 74 and it wouldn't take a lot for it to be super nice. The car has a clean and clear WV title in my name ready to sign over to the new owner. Don't miss out on this deal as the buy it now price is very fair for the cars condition. A decent body aloneis worth that. Let me know if you have any questions and PLEASE ask questions don't assume anything. My feedback is super good and I want to keep it that way. Check it out as its well over 650 and all positive. You don't get great feedback like that if you lie and cheat people I tell it like it is. If you have less than 10 positive feedback you must contact me before bidding or I may cancel your bid. Also I may cancel the auction early if it sells locally. Thanks for looking and good luck should you decide to bid on this solid running and driving El Camino. Also the tires look good and the wheels look new. I have misplaced the door key will keep looking but you may have to get a new one cut or replace the locks. Thanks
