Description

This Chevrolet Corvair 700 was the deluxe model for 1960. Introduced in October 1959 in two body styles and two trim levels . This upper level 700 4 door very original condition that has had all themechanical schecked out and anything needing repair has been done .Factory options on this 700 were the gasoline heater ($74) and fold down back seat ($32) . There were no back up lights on this car but a kit is included(lenses already installed) but the delete covers are also included. Also there are 2 like new freshly painted horizon blue fender skirts in the trunk. The difference between a 1960 and a 1961 Corvair is incredible when you get to comparing the body structure . They look very similar but the 60 is very unique .Chevroletobviously spent a lot of time and effort in the design and manufacturing. The low weight independent suspension smooth flat 6 and solid structure make these cars fun to drive . This car has documented low miles and was parked in a Illinois barn by theoriginalowner and sat in the same spot for over 40 years . . (see the last photo). The mileage when removed from the barn was 44362.I purchased it in 2013 and had my brotherstoreit for about a year until hetrailer-ed it here to South Carolina .I have the Farmers name as well as more details from the second owned who lives in Missouri.I have done extensive mechanical restoration to bring the car up to like new condition while leaving the interior paint and trim as was delivered from Chevrolet. Mechanically it has NO issues and It drives feels and smells just like a new 1960 Corvair. Even all of the weatherstrips are soft and in great shape.Thedrive trainwas removed earlier this year and has been fully restored with the help of a top notch corvair specialist in the upstate of SC. The engine was checked out and re ringed cylinders were checked and honed. The crank and bearings were like new. The heads were cleanedvalves doneand flashing cleaned for better air flow. It has a bolted flywheel viton seals new GM clutch disc locking top cover bolts and the oil pumpclearance set.All of the sheet metal has been bead blastedand repainted.(only because the paint wasimproperlycleaned and falling off). The engine compartment was thoroughly cleaned harness removedsanded and painted for the same reason. The axle was fully dis-assembeledcleaned inspected andassembled. It is a 3;27 ratio .The transmission was checked out and resealed. The fuel lines are all new including pump and sending unit and the tank was previously cleaned up and sealed by the prior owner. The exhaust system is new last year along with a NOS muffler. The wheels were checked one was replaced and all 5 were refinishedand the rear wheel bearings have been serviced front and rear. All of the interior finishes areoriginaland the rear seat and door panels are as well. The door panels are origional although the drivers door panel is frayed slightly at the bottom. The front seat has had the surface replaced at some point with cloth. I believe the theoriginalowner did this for comfort. The headliner is in good condition but shows stains from the years. The gas heater works great and has a new exhaust pipe. The car drives like a dream and I would nothesitateto go on the road anywhere with it. The tires are in very good condition 195-70 13The paint is theoriginal horizon blue (891)lacquer and still looks just as it should with theoriginalluster and correct gloss not like the over restored clear coated fake plastic paint you see today. There are wear spots and slight discolorations in the paint in places but to strip theoriginalityoff and repaint it would be a loss in my opinion punishable by driverslicenserevocation. If you like low mileage origional vehicles and andThe car is located in upstate SC . Fell free to come see it or call Brian with anyquestions. Contact by email or text or phone .864 384 4042The car is currentlylicensedand insured. Also note that the car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. And if paid for BEFORE Tuesday June 23 I will be more than happy to deliver the car to the Corsa international convention in Knoxville TNthat day.The car can be seen any day prior to June 23 .Please call me if you have any questions.
