THE RULES:
This is a no reserve auction, t is NOT listed anywhere else, nd there is NO buy-it-now price: the auction will run to the end and sold to the highest bidder, o bid with confidence!! ONLY bid if you can pay! I don’t care about spouses, anks, reams, r jobs. If any of these are a concern, ou shouldn’t be buying this car anyway. $1000 deposit within 48 hrs of auction end, on-payment of the balance will result in lost deposit. Non-payment of deposit will result in relisting the car.
Thanks to Ebay's lack of verifying or certifying buyers, f you have less than 5 on your history, ou must CALL me first! – no texts, o emails; a phone conversation PRIOR TO BIDDING otherwise I will cancel your bid. If I question the authenticity of a bid, will reach out to you and if you do not respond in 24 hours, will cancel your bid. If I upset or cancel a legitimate bidder, ’m sorry, ut there are too many scammers and non-payers, ts a pain for buyers and sellers. If you are serious about winning the car, hen you should appreciate the process so you don’t lose or overpay to a ‘ghost’ or deadbeat.
I highly recommend on-site inspections and/or test drives. While I will try to represent this car as accurately as possible, he seller should know exactly what they are buying.
Seller is 100% responsible for pick up/shipping. No international. The car runs great and drives very well however, ue to a couple of serious issues mentioned below, f you live more than 50 miles from Kansas City, DO NOT recommend driving it home, nd certainly not across the country.
THE CAR
You are bidding on a beautiful1968 Camaro Convertible. It is NOT numbers matching; NOT a real SS; NOT originally red. From my research, t was originally Butternut Yellow with standard black interior, lack top. From lack of options and VIN, y best guess is this was a base model 210 hp 327. It has a clear and current Kansas title in the sellers name with no liens.
I am representing this car for a friend and in possession of the car. I have owned dozens of classics and can answer just about any question a buyer might have. The seller is not a car guy, ut someone who wanted an enjoyable hot rod. Unfortunately, omeone took him ‘for a ride’ when he purchased this car in 2011. After purchase, e proceeded to put well over $10,000 into it including a new engine, ew convertible top, omplete front suspension rebuild/upgraded sway bar, pgrade to power disc brakes (front), ver $1,000 in a new stereo system, ew carpet, nd misc interior trim pieces – all high quality and professionally installed (all receipts provided to buyer). Unfortunately, o one pointed out the rust issues hidden under the car until this year. With this knowledge, is ownership with the car has soured. That said, is strong ethics prevents him from “passing the buck” to the next unsuspecting buyer. The car is honestly represented, nowing full well it means a serious loss to the seller. There is zero intent to mislead or defraud anyone bidding on this car.
All modifications/upgrades, ngine, uspension rebuild, tc was done in late 2011. The car has only been driven 2,000 miles since then. When you see “new” in this description and that means “new in 2011”, ut is still ‘like new’ given how little use the car has seen.
The car is very nice inside and out and presents very well. The interior is in excellent condition with no rips or tears, o cracks in dash pad, ew trim pieces replaced where necessary, nd new carpet. However, ecause how the replacement floor pans were previously installed (mentioned later) the carpet does not lay correctly in a couple of areas, ut can’t been seen under the mats. The fuel gauge is not working. The stereo is a Custom Auto Sound USA-630 made to fit the dash – the dash is uncut. The stereo includes a 200 watt external amp along with new speakers.
The paint is very nice, ut does have a few chips. There is a small door ding in the drivers door, hips by the hood, runk, amp; fender – please check out the pictures. There are a couple of spots where rust is starting to bubble up – on the bottom of the front passenger fender and the passenger side rear quarter. See pictures. All weather-stripping was replaced in 2011 as well. New convertible top, op pads, nd everything that goes along with it. It is a manual top. The trunk is solid. The driver front “cocktail shaker” is missing, he other three are in place (F-body convertible owners know what these are).
Its runs great and shifts as it should. The engine is an ATK performance engine 325HP 350c.i. motor topped with an Edelbrock Performer intake, delbrock 1406 carb, roComp billet HEI distributor, new exhaust, ater pump, elts, ower steering hoses, nd braided hoses installed at the time. The (assumed) original powerglide shifts as it should. It does leak a little fluid from the speedo connection. The original 10 bolt rearend has a chrome cover with mono-leaf springs, lthough the passenger side spring is broken.
Front suspension rebuilt with new ball joints, ontrol arm bushings, nd 1” front sway bar. A “Right Stuff” power brake/front disc conversion was installed with optional red powder coated calipers and 11” rotors. The kit included new spindles, ower brake booster, aster cylinder, roportioning valve and new brake lines. Like most original GM power steering cars, teering is a little vague as the steering box has not been upgraded or replaced. Upgrading to an AGR power steering unit box would get the most out of the front suspension upgrades. The car came with 17” American Racing Torque Thrust II polished wheels wrapped in 245/45 ZR 17 unidirectional performance tires on all four corners. On full turn, he front tires will rub a little. There appears to be plenty of tread.
THE BAD
The last several pictures show the primary issue with the car. The car was restored prior to purchase and unfortunately, he underbody did not receive the same attention as the exterior. The floor pans were replaced and are rust free. However, hey were very poorly installed with large gaps between the pans and structural braces. I would recommend having the current pans removed and new pans installed correctly.
More importantly, oth rear spring front mounts (torque boxes) are seriously rusted and needs immediate attention for repairs. The left spring is broken and needs replacing. This is why I do not recommend driving the car for any real distance.
As mentioned earlier, here is rust bubbling in passenger rear quarter by the door and on the bottom of the passenger front fender.
SUMMARY
Overall, his is a great looking car that needs some under carriage finishing to be a great car. Most everything else is done. For someone with the skills to (properly) replace floor pans and rust repair, his could be a great deal on an otherwise very nice car.
I do recommend on-site inspections and test drives, have a lift as well so everything is out in the open. I am trying to hid nothing, ut there could be small details I may have left out, o please ask questions.
Any questions (OR TO BID if under 5!) please email or call Robert at 913-Four Eight Eight – Seven Seven Four Four. Happy Bidding!
