THIS CAR WAS DRIVEN VERY LITTLE FOR THE FIRST FEW YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THIS CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT INSIDE AND FOR MOST OF ITS LIFE WAS UNDER A VERY SOFT COVER. IT HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY ONLY IN MY DEALERSHIP FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS
THE CAR WAS SPECIAL ORDERED FROM BARFORD CHEVROLET IN CLAYTON, O. THE WINDOW STICKER ALSO STATES THEIR NAME. THIS CAR WAS ORDERED WHEN THE 74 MODELS CAME OUT. AT THIS TIME IT WAS A SIX MONTH WAIT TO TIME TO RECEIVE AN ORDERED CORVETTE.
THE PER-DELIVERY INSPECTION SHEET BY BARFORD ON A CHEVROLET FORM IS DATED 2/8/74
TITLE IS THE ORIGINAL MO. TITLE THAT WAS ISSUED BY THE STATE OF MO. ON 2/21/1974 IS IN THE NAME OF SHERMAN AUTO SALES.
ALL THE FACTORY MARKINGS ARE ON THE CAR. NOTHING HAS BEEN CLEANED OR WIPED UNDER THE HOOD AND UNDER-CARRIAGE.
I HAVE MANY PICTURES ON RECORD THAT WERE TAKEN WITHIN THE PAST WEEK. E-BAY ONLY ALLOWS 24 PICTURES ON A NORMAL LISTING. ANY SINCERE PICTURE REQUEST WILL BE HONORED.
THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER IS IN A PLASTIC BAG. THE PAPER STICKER WAS PARTIALLY DAMAGED WHEN IT WAS REMOVED PRIOR TO DELIVERY.
THE PER-DELIVERY SHEET, LL FACTORY BOOKLETS ARE IN THE ORIGINAL PLASTIC BAG (THE ORIGINAL BOOKLETS SHOW MINOR STAINS FROM YEARS OF STORAGE. THIS IS MINIMAL), HE UNUSED FACTORY LICENSE FRAMES ARE WITH THE CAR. ONE IS STILL IN THE SEALED CELLOPHANE PLASTIC BAG. THE ORIGINAL LICENSE BOLT PACKAGES FROM CHEVROLET WITH A PART NUMBER WERE NEVER OPENED. I HAVE ONLY ONE SET OF ORIGINAL KEYS. THESE STILL HAVE THE NUMBERS THAT HAVE "NEVER" BEEN PUNCHED OUT. THE ORIGINAL MASTER KEY FOR THE SPARE TIRE LOCK IS ALSO IN PLACE. MY FATHER HAD PUT THE 2ND SET AWAY FOR SAFETY AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE THEM. (HE PASSED AWAY 22 YEARS AGO).
*I HAVE A 14 KARAT GOLD KEY THAT WAS CUT FOR THIS CAR THAT I RECEIVED AS A GIFT YEARS AGO. THIS HAS BEEN IN A GLASS CASE SINCE NEW. I HAD MY WIFE STOP BY A JEWELRY STORE THIS MORNING. THE SALESPERSON THAT LOOKED AT THE KEY WAS NOT CERTAIN IF THE ENTIRE KEY EVEN THOUGH STAMPED 14 KT. WAS SOLID GOLD. THEY HAD SAID IF IT WAS SOLID GOLD DUE TO THE WEIGHT IT WOULD BE VALUED AT AROUND $150.00 THIS KEY IS INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING.
THIS IS A TRUE NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. THE ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET WILL BE UNDER THE TANK. I HAD A PERSON SERVICE THE CAR IN 8/1988 AND HE HAD SAID THE BUILD SHEET WAS IN PLACE.

THE CAR WAS ORDERED WITH WHITE WALL TIRES. IN ERROR ON THE ORDER IT CAME THROUGH WITH W/LETTERED TIRES. BARFORD CHEVROLET SWITCHED THE COMPLETE WHEEL AND TIRE ASSEMBLY WITH ANOTHER CORVETTE IN STOCK. THE TIRES ARE DATED 17TH WEEK OF 1973. THE TIRE STICKER IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE TREAD OF THE SPARE. (I WAS NEVER AWARE OF THIS UNTIL ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO AS I WAS LOOKING AT THE WINDOW STICKER. THESE TIRES ARE STILL ON THE CAR AND SHOW VERY NICELY.
GENUINE RUBBER MATS WERE PURCHASED FROM THE CHEVROLET PARTS DEPT.
THIS CAR IS TRULY A TIME CAPSULE IN EVERY WAY. THE PAINT IS 100% ORIGINAL. THE TOP, OMPLETE INTERIOR,TIRES, ND 99% OF THE CAR IS AS IT WAS PURCHASED IN 1974
THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED AND MAINTAINED.
THIS CAR HAS TRULY BEEN WELL PROTECTED AND I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY DRIVER. YOU MIGHT LAUGH AT THIS NEXT STATEMENT, UT I NEVER EVEN HIT PASSING GEAR WITH THIS CAR.
WHEN THIS CAR WAS PAINTED AT THE FACTORY THERE ARE A FEW SIGNS OF OVER-SPRAY. I HAVE ALWAYS LEFT THAT ALONE. THERE IS EVEN A PIECE OF MASKING TAPE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE HEADLIGHT TANK WITH OVER-SPRAY. IN THE MID 1970'S FACTORY IMPERFECTIONS WERE VERY COMMON. I FELT AT THAT AT THIS TIME IN 1974 AND WITH SPECIAL SUPERVISION & ATTENTION AT THE FACTORY, HAT I HAD ONE OF THE BEST IN FINISH PAINTWORK CORVETTES THAT WAS MADE. FACTORY BLENDING WAS A VERY COMMON PRACTICE. THERE IS ALSO A SMALL EDGE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE OUTSIDE MIRROR WITH A PAINT LINE FROM TAPE AND A LITTLE OVER-SPRAY ON THE LEFT DOOR JAMB AT THE EDGE OF THE WHITE DOOR STICKER. THESE SPOTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LEFT ALONE.

*4/9/1974 418 MILES FACTORY CAMPAIGN 74C13 PERFORMED, EPAIRED LIGHT ON SHIFT INDICATOR, OOD RELEASE REPAIRED, HECKED FOR SLIGHT LEAK AT RADIATOR.
*5/3/1974 699 MILES REPLACED SWITCH ON A/C CONTROLLER
*6/13/1974 1167 MILES REPLACED WEATHERSTRIP ON CONVERTIBLE TOP FOR SQUEAK
*9/12/1974 2632 MILES RADIATOR SEAM RESEALED
(ALL WORKED MARKED BY * WAS PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY BY BARFORD CHEVROLET. TICKETS ARE WITH THE CAR.
6/1988 THIS WORK WAS PERFORMED BY A FRIEND THAT WAS A CORVETTE MECHANIC AT HIS HOME. ALL 4 CALIPERS WERE REPLACED WITH DELCO MORRAINE STAINLESS SLEEVE CALIPERS. THE TICKET FROM RAYS CORVETTES IN MO. IS WITH THE CAR. THE CALIPERS WERE $340.00 FOR PARTS WITH A DISCOUNT. SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED, IL CHANGE AND FILTER, amp; HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT.
OIL CHANGES WERE PERFORMED AT OUR STORE AND BATTERY REPLACEMENTS WERE DONE SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS. (THIS WAS ALL INTERNAL AND NO TICKETS WERE KEPT ON OIL CHANGES AND BATTERIES)
APPROX. 5 YEARS AGO, I HAD ANOTHER MECHANIC COME INTO MY BUILDING AND REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, ND REPLACED VALVE COVER GASKETS.
8/7/2015 REPLACED RIGHT FRONT CALIPER WITH A DELCO MORRAINE REBUILT CALIPER WITH STAINLESS SLEEVES. (THE SEAL WAS LEAKING). I DID PAY THE CORE CHARGE AND SAVE THIS REMOVED MATCHING CALIPER FROM THE 1988 REPLACEMENT.
8/11/2015 INSTALLED NEW 7 YEAR DELCO BATTERY.
THIS NEXT SECTION COVERS DEFECTS AND ARE AS FOLLOWS:
THERE IS A SLIGHT MINOR VARIATION ON THE PAINT COLOR BETWEEN THE HEADLIGHT DOOR AND THE BODY. THIS CAN ONLY BE NOTICED, EPENDING ON THE ANGLE YOU APPROACH THE CAR. TO MY BEST KNOWLEDGE THESE HEADLIGHT DOORS WERE NOT PAINTED WITH THE BODY AND THAT WOULD BE THE REASONING FOR THE SLIGHT DIFFERENCE.
THERE IS A 3/4" THIN NICK ON THE TOP OF THE LEFT FRONT FENDER, HAT WAS TOUCHED UP BY BARFORD CHEVROLET. THIS WAS DONE WHEN THE RADIATOR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. (I REMEMBER THAT VERY WELL).
THERE IS A 1" PAPER THIN SEAM LINE ON THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER THAT WAS THERE WHEN THE CAR WAS MADE. I WAS TOLD BY BARFORD TO LEAVE IT ALONE. THE PAINT LINE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS HAS SPLIT IN THIS ONE INCH LINE. THIS IS VERY MINIMAL, UT NEEDS TO BE NOTED.
THE IS A SMALL DOOR CHIP ON THE PASSENGER DOOR THAT WAS NEVER TOUCHED UP.
THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS A FEW MORE SMALL NICKS AROUND THE DOOR JAM AND A FEW ON THE SMALL AREA IN FRONT OF THE REAR WHEEL.
THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS HAVE BOTH GONE BAD FROM AGE AND DO NEED REPLACEMENT. THEY HAVE SEPARATIONS AND CRACKS IN SEVERAL PLACES. I KNOW THESE BUMPERS DO GO BAD, UT I FEEL MINE MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY MYSELF. YEARS AGO, HEN THE BUMPERS STARTED TO FADE DOWN, USED ARMOR ALL WITH A SOFT CLOTH. THIS MIGHT HAVE CAUSED A CHEMICAL REACTION OR DID NOT LET THE PLASTIC BREATHE. I HAVE SEEN MANY CORVETTE BUMPERS DETERIORATE, UT I FEEL MINE ARE THE WORST I HAVE SEEN,
THE MUFFLER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOES HAVE RUST AT THE BACK FROM CONDENSATION SETTING IN THE MUFFLER FROM INTERMITTENT STARTS, ITHOUT DRIVING THE CAR. THE SOUND OF THE EXHAUST IS STILL VERY NORMAL.
THE A/C IS STILL COLD WITH R12. THIS SYSTEM AS STRANGE AS IT MAY SOUND HAS NEVER BEEN SERVICED. THE SIGHT GLASS SHOWS NO OXIDATION OR DARKENING IN THE INTERNAL SYSTEM. THERE WAS A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF BUBBLES THROUGH THE SIGHT GLASS, O I WOULD FEEL THE SYSTEM IS JUST A LITTLE LOW ON FREON. THE SYSTEM ENGAGES AND STAYS ENGAGED AS SOON AS THE SWITCH IS TURNED ON. I DO HAVE R12 AND THE SYSTEM WOULD BE CHARGED BEFORE DELIVERY WAS MADE.
THE TIRES DUE TO AGE SHOULD HAVE SMALL DRY THIN CRACKS CLOSE TO THE WHEEL AREA. (I WOLD SUGGEST IF A PERSON WANTED TO DRIVE THIS CAR, HEY SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER SET OF WHEELS AND TIRES). THE ORIGINAL TIRES ARE A PART OF THIS CAR'S HISTORY
THE CAR STARTS VERY WELL,WITH A FEW PUMPS OF THE ACCELERATOR. YOU CAN TELL THERE IS DRYNESS IN ACCELERATOR PUMP AS YOU WILL FEEL HESITATION WHEN YOU PULL AWAY. I DROVE THE CAR APPROX. 2 BLOCKS AND THE SHIFTING AND STEERING WERE EXCELLENT. THE GAS PEDAL DID HAVE TO BE FEATHERED TO ACCELERATE. THE INTERNAL ACCELERATOR PUP SHOULD MOST LIKELY BE REPLACED. (I WOULD SUGGEST THE PUMP ONLY AND NOT DIPPING OR REBUILDING THE CARB).
A FEW ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A 2ND SET OF RUBBER FLOOR MATS OVER THE ORIGINAL RUBBER MATS. THE RUGS ARE AS NEW AS POSSIBLE. THE CHEVROLET RUBBER MAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, HOWS VERY SLIGHT WEAR FROM MY DRIVING WHEN THIS CAR WAS NEW.
THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WAS USED ONE TIME. THE ASHTRAY WAS NEVER USED.
THE SMALL VINYL STRAP THAT YOU PLACE YOUR FINGER IN TO OPEN THE BATTERY DOOR COVER, AS COME OFF. I HAVE LEFT IT ALONE AND IT IS IN THE STORAGE COMPARTMENT IN BACK.
THIS CAR HAS ALL ORIGINAL GLASS AND PROPER MARKINGS ON THE GLASS.
THE TOP WHEN FOLDED DOWN YEARS AGO, LWAYS HAD A TOWEL PLACED AGAINST THE PLASTIC WINDOW FOR PROTECTION
THE CONDITION OF THE TOP AND ALL RUBBER SEALS AND MOLDINGS ARE VERY FRESH.
THERE IS A SLIGHT RUB MARK WHERE THE TOP SITS ON THE BACK PAINTED PANEL, HEN THE TOP IS UP. THIS WAS HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH, UT CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURES.
THE ORIGINAL BATTERY VENT TUBES WITH THE BATTERY CAPS ATTACHED ARE STILL IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT.
I HAVE NEVER SAT IN THIS CAR WITHOUT A SHEET OR COVER ON THE SEAT. THE DASH AND ALL TRIM IS VERY FRESH AND NOT DRIED OUT AT ALL.
THIS CAR HAS NO ODORS AT ALL.
THIS IS ALSO A CAR THAT DOES NOT LEAK OR LEAVE SPOTS ON THE CONCRETE.
THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AND THE ENGINE HAVE NEVER BEEN DETAILED. THERE IS SLIGHT DIRT AND SPIDER WEBS ON THE UNDER5SIDE OF THE CAR.
IN CLOSING: I FEEL I HAVE ONE OF THE MOST ORIGINAL 74 CORVETTE'S TO EVER BE FOUND THAT IS STILL OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE MILEAGE AND OWNERSHIP WILL BE IN A SWORN AND NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT.
1974 WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR NO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. THIS IS ALSO THE ONLY YEAR FOR THE SPLIT REAR BUMPER.
