Description

I purchased this truck from the original Columbia, C family approximately 2 years ago. The uncle passed and left the truck to his 30+ year old nephew, hich is who I purchased it from. It spent its entire life in Lexington/Columbia SC, hich means it has never seen any sort of corrosives like salty roads up north. I call the truck 95% rust free as I have found only one bubble of rust behind the left rear wheel on the lower bedside (see picture). The usual C10 rust areas (Rockers, ab corners, ab mounts, irewall, ed floor, tc) appear to be mint on this particular truck. All body panels appear to be original with no major damage or replacement. My intentions were to have some fun with it and cut the truck down to a short bed. But after seeing how mint and original it was, justcouldn'tgo through with it. It will only be original once! The truck appears to be an all original, umbers matching C10 Longbed with the rare Highlander package. ALL options listed on the S.P.I.D are still present on the truck, ven down to the aluminum trim along the door edges. The mileage reads just over 70k which I believe to be accurate. The previous owner stated that all mileage, s well as everything else, as all original. I personally cannotguaranteethat 100% but it appears to be very true. It also appears to have had a respray in factory Medium Olive/White/Medium Olive paint at some point in its past (found overspray in certain areas). The respray was not perfect and appears to have been performed quite a few years ago as it has aged gracefully with new patina. There is some chipping and flaking on the hood. I have not, owever, ound any areas of body filler. As old as the paint is now, t would have bubbled and resurfaced in this amount of time. The truck also had a camper shell on the bed, hich did a fine job of preserving the metal. It runs and drives great while still utilizing the original Quadrajet and points system. I have tried to update the truck slightly with a lower stance and better braking system. I did not do anything that could not be reversed (ie cutting or grinding). I also still have all of the original components that were removed (steering, rake, uspension, ear bumper, nd highlander wheels/wheel covers). I can/will provide these items to the new owner. I have spent thousands on updating the truck to its condition that you see today. All parts have less than 500 mile, s I rarely drive her. Here is the list of new parts:
-CPP 4-wheel disc brake kit/conversion. To include ALL new calipers, otors, earings, nd associated bracketry needed for rear conversion.-CPP Brake booster and master cylinder-All brake lines replaced with Stainless lines (front to rear)-CPP 3/4 Lowering kit w/modular spindles-New OEM upper and lower control arms and ball joints-Custom built 20" Detroit Steel Wheels smoothies with optional center cones (Powder-coatedwhite)-New 255/45/20 Yokohama tires-LMC track bar w/hardware-LMC rear shock relocation brackets (not installed)-Single exhaust with factory location exit. Flowmaster 40 Series muffler.-New rear wheel bearings w/ differential fluid change.-Water pump-Belts-Upper/Lower radiator hose
The truck starts, uns, rives, nd stops great. Especially for a 40+ year old truck. It has its fair share ofsqueaksand rattles. Slight puff of smoke if not started up for several weeks. I believe the engine is the original 350 with TH350 transmission, nd as far as I know, either have ever been rebuilt (but again, ot 100% sure). With that being said, oth the engine and transmission leak from various places. The transmission being the biggest concern as it leaks the most. I would recommend the new owner rebuild/reseal both. Just to reiterate, he engine/transmission run and shift great, ut will leave little surprises everywhere you park. I also suspect the fuel sending unit or gauge to be faulty as well. I do not get an accurate fuel reading. The truck will also need an alignment as I never performed one after installing steering/suspension parts. Also, he truck is making a strange noise from the left rear rotor/caliper area. The truck is still perfectlydrive-able, just have not had time to pinpoint the exact issue. The brakes also seem to squeak more than usual and I have not tried to figure out why (ALL components are new).I am trying to be as honest as possible so there will be no surprises for the new owner. Everything I say here is 100% to the best of my knowledge. Please be realistic of your expectations, o be fair, he truck is still 43 years old. So here is a more compressed list of issues that the new owner will need to address:
-Alignment-Fuel gauge issue-Left rear rotor/caliper issue-Squeaky brake issue-Rebuild/reseal engine and transmission
Again, his is NOT a new car and I would highly suggest potential buyers to come look at and drive the truck in person. This is a beautiful piece of history and is an excellent start for an awesome rare patina project and I would love to keep it for myself, owever, no longer have the time or space toaccommodatesuch a big truck/project.
