Description

When I ran across this cool classic trucknearly 20 years ago I was very impressed withits greatconditionandpurchased it with the intention of using it as a service truck. Isoon decided it was really too nice to have employees bombing around the farm so it's pretty much been stored since then; started and moved every few months to get other items in or out of the shed.

The truck has 94350 miles, 27 motor, speed transmission, eavy rear end (dana 60?), ower steering, nd power brakes. It appears but I cannot confirm that this truck has it's original engine, ransmission, nd actual miles. I swapped the stock 4.56 rearend gears with a set of 4.11 gears from a 1968 truck I still own (speedometer reads 10% slow because of this). The tires all hold air but will need to be replaced soon.

The interior is original and in good condition except for a few small tears in the seat back material and what appears to be a cigar burn below the steering wheel. The gauges in the instrument panel all work although a previous owner has installed an auxiliary voltage meter. The shifter and parking brake could both use new boots to seal up the floor. The stock radio is still in place butis currently not working; at one time I thought it may only be the speaker that was bad but never pursued it further. The heaterfan fuse is currently blown but I havenot looked into the reason why.

The body is ingood shape except for a small amount of rust starting to develop at the bottom of the drivers side fender (no rust yet on the passenger side). The paint appears original and looks goodbut is gettingquite thin on the top edges of the hood and isflawed a bit on the passenger door where it appears a dent was repaired.

The engine starts up, uns well, nd appears to be the stock 327 although the carbhas been replaced with a Holley. There is a small coolant leakin the thermostat housinggasket. The truck is wired and has brackets for dual batteries althoughit is currentlyrunning on one. There is an auxiliary fuel tank under the flatbed that holds approximately 30 gallons and is switched from the cab.

The best I can piece together the history of this truck is that a gentleman named Max Nelson purchased it new as a cab and chassis, uilt a nice flatbed for it, nd then custombuilt a neat camper to go on the flatbed. When I purchased; it was essentially a motorhome and did not appear that the camper had ever been off the truck. The camper is a fine piece of craftsmanship and is still in great shape. Ihave been usingthe camper by mounting it on a gooseneck flatbed trailerbut will consideroffers to buy it with the truck.
