55K original miles

Great on the road
Up for bids is this very sharp '68 Imperial. Relatively rare, hrysler manufactured only 2,656 Crown Coupes that year. This particular car is very well preserved, till on the road and looking great with just under 55K original miles. Well optioned, he car has all the bells and whistles, nd topping them all is the mighty 440ci powerplant, he largest engine Chrysler ever produced. This combination of luxury and power brought the Imperial in close contention with Cadillac and Lincoln in the Luxo-Barge wars of that era. All had their own attributes, y vote goes to the Imperial.

Finished in Meadow Green Metallic, he car has a mix of original paint with some areas that have been repainted. The overall impression of the paint is "driver quality", t looks very nice at first glance but if you go looking you'll find some surface imperfections and slight color mismatch in areas. It's the proverbial 15 footer, ut you can believe that when this land yacht floats into port nobody's going to be nitpicking the paint. The car's quite the crowd pleaser, artly because there just aren't that many left out there, ut mostly because you can tell right away it's a low-miler.
The car's strong point is its absence of rust. It's extremely solid top to bottom with no rust issues anywhere. Body panels are all very straight, anel gaps are all perfect and the doors click shut with one finger. Tires are brand new with about 50 miles on them. All four "Imperial only" wheelcovers are in super condition.
Here's the original window sticker for this car. $7165 was a lot of coin in 1968, t equals about $49,000 in today's dollars.
Crisp and clean tail with good chrome and straight trim. This tail-light design really comes alive at night, he 4th photo below shows you a better view of just how distinctive it looks to those folks you just blew past.
Very nice grill with all four original GE headlights.
The vinyl roof is in terrific conditon. All of the glass on the car is original, ncluding the windshield. It's all outstanding, nother signpost of a low mile car. Being a hardtop, hen the windows are down the interior really opens up.
All of the trim on the car is original and still in great shape. Bumpers have never been replated, hey show some faint hazing but for the most part present well.
The interior continues the time-warp theme, t's very well preserved, nd again, ll original. The leather is still soft and supple, he Illiad cloth shows no wear.
Nice steering wheel with no splits. The optional Auto-Temp climate control system works correctly, lthough I can't vouch for just how cold the A/C is blowing this time of year. The radio and power antenna both work, ll of the power windows work well, he 6-way power seat works, asically everything works on this car except for the clock.
Good dashpad with no cracks or splits. Footwells and underdash area is like new.
Back seat and parcel shelf are mint. The front and rear floor mats are genuine Mopar accessories from new, he carpet underneath has never seen the light of day. Headliner is flawless. Hope you like green, here's lots of it.
Excellent sills. The driver's side door panel shows some slight wear on the arm rest. The bronze inserts on the doors and dash show the typical staining that these all seemed to develop.
Huge trunk. 4th photo below shows what it looks like under the carpet. No water leaks here, ll of the car's weatherstripping is original and still doing its job well.
This Imperial is a sweetheart to drive. Always fires at the flick of the key, tarts with the correct fast idle, icks down like it should and runs very strongly with no smoke and no noise. The 440 offers Hand of God acceleration and torque, t's a real eye-opener. The driving experience is sublime; it has a super comfortable ride, erfectly shifting TorqueFlite transmission, mooth power steering and all new brakes from front to back. The dash gauges show good consistent readings, he entire driving experience inspires confidence to drive this Imperial any amount of distance. All that's left for you to do is sit back, elax, nd finger-tip steer this land yacht to the horizon.
The car comes with the original owner's manual, hop manual, uild sheet, indow sticker and original keys.
The undercarriage has been undercoated from new and shows zero rust issues, ust a super survivor from the pinnacle of Chrysler's model lineup.
