Description

This 3-owner 1978 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country station wagon was originally a company car. and has received quality care its entire life. The original owner owned it from 1978 through 2005. It has 74. 58 miles as of the start of this auction. It drives beautifully. and people love to photograph it wherever I go. It is equipped as follows:318 V-8 2bbl engineAutomatic 3-speed transmissionPower SteeringPower BrakesPower WindowsPower Driver’s SeatCruise ControlLeather UpholsteryAM/FM StereoAir-Conditioner (see comments below)Front Bumper Guards (yes this was optional even though rears were standard)Driver’s remote control side mirror. Right hand manual mirrorAir Deflector and Luggage RackWire Wheel Covers (see note below)Under the hood is a 318 V-8 with the factory Lean Burn Computer Controls. The Lean Burn works perfectly. and the car has plenty of power. Earlier this year. I replaced the original Lean Burn carburetor with a correct NOS Lean Burn carburetor. It starts quickly (even if sitting for weeks) and idles smoothly. It passed smog effortlessly. It gets impressive mileage. The worst mileage is 18. The best. 29. I average 23. The automatic transmission was serviced at 69. 00 miles. and shifts smoothly through all gears. The power windows all work. The front passenger window gets a little slow as it reaches the top. but it always closes. The power seat works perfectly. All gauges and lights work. The speedometer and odometer are accurate. The trip meter stopped working two years ago (reset to 000. 0). The Cruise Control works very well. The leather seating in front shows wear and cracking. Yet it is still soft and comfortable. The rear seat is in excellent shape. The headliner was replaced in 1997. The rear cargo area carpet is original. but faded. There is a small spot at the rear of the cargo area where the carpet is coming apart. The muffler and resonator are original. I had the center section of the exhaust and the catalytic converter replaced in 2013. The heater blows nice and warm. However. so does the air-conditioning. I have isolated the refrigerant leak to the expansion valve at the firewall. Once this inexpensive item is replaced (NOS ones are available on eBay for between $30 and $40). the system should hold a charge of R-12. The system controls work perfectly. The Classic Cream (That’s what Chrysler called it) paint is 90% original. The lower portions of the doors and fenders were repainted approximately 10 years ago to repair stone damage. At that time. all wood panels (with exception to the tailgate) were replaced with correct Chrysler/3M woodgrain. The wood trim remains with their factory finish. There is some minor surface rust inside of the engine compartment. There are 3 small spots on the exterior body that have rust bubbles (one on the lower portion of the driver’s door. one on the lower portion of the passenger front door. and one on the front of the left rear wheelwell. see photos). They are quite minor. but I want you to know every detail. flaws and features alike. The undercarriage was rustproofed in 1978. and it has held up substantially. This Town and Country has no major rust damage. not even moderate. Just the cosmetic items I mentioned earlier. At one time. the front left wire wheel cover was replaced. It does not match the other three exactly. It is from a newer Fifth Avenue. The only difference is that there is a seam in the center of the hub. The front right speaker crackles. I purchased a NOS speaker. and will include it with the sale. The shock absorbers are due for replacement. and I am including a new set with the sale. I have a bunch of spare parts (some NOS) that I will include with the sale. including a spare Lean Burn Computer. I have described this beautiful wagon to the best of my ability. and I am unable to provide any guarantees. It is sold AS-IS. Please look at the photos carefully. and bid with your heart. And. of course. I am available for any questions that you may have. Inspectors are welcome by appointment. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a feedback score of 10 or less. please email me before bidding. Although I do not have a shipper available. I am more than willing to work with your shipper to arrange pick-up in Sacramento. California. It’s a beautiful wagon that I am sure will delight you and provide you with years of enjoyment. …. and it can be your’s if the price is right!
