Description

1962 Chrysler Imperial Crown

Up for Auction: awesome very rare cool old Moparthese cars actually cost MORE then a same yr CaddyChrysler pulled all the stops out to put out a unique andhi end luxury car in the early 60s.Very few of these cars are left on the road and whoeverrestores this gem is going to have fun tooling around tolocal cars shows and events knowing they probably havethe only one there !Some unique features for this yr/model Imperial are:Gunsight taillights / flat steering wheel / floating headlightsand the dash layout is like being in a Jet fighter and justa great looking set up.

Some brief history about the car when we got it is it wasparked and stored in a gentlemans lot where it sat for about 17 yrs and pretty much forgotten about. During thattime the AZ sun and heat did its damage to the interiorand paint as you can see. Also someone took some brakeparts off the RF wheel. Drum and backing plate are withthe car but the internals on the RF or missing. The best I can tell this car is still wearing its original whitepaint (whats left of it) and we cant find any signs of previousdamage or bondo. Also because its been here in the desertthere is little to no rust on the body etc. We have plenty ofpics below to show proof of our claims. Also make sure you check out our Feedback here on EbayIts there for a reason and tells potential bidders/buyersthey can rest assure if they buy one of our cars things willgo smooth and well.To date Ive yet to see anyone else market their cars the waywe do and our prices we try to be realistic as well.We want to sell cars not sit on them for months. So to get this car back on the road we did some cleaning upand ran a new fuel line to a small container of gas under thehood (knowing whats in the tank is very old) Installed a newignition switch cleaned up some stuff in the distributer. After a few cranks of the key the car fired up on its ownand idled pretty good. As long as the car was running well weleft well enough alone and thats how we've been moving itaround the yard. PS works well and even the AC blows andwants to work but not blowing cold. The blower motor isa little noisy. For car that sat for so long came to life andis ready to be restored.

DRIVETRAIN: the original motor runs and sounds good.Under the hood is very original and un-molested.Could use a good cleaning and probably a tune up.Some mild surface rust in a few areas but no signs ofany body damage here too. The 413 V8 is a work horseand the 3 spd auto trans seems to be working well.ALL the tires are junk / wrong size and old !!To stop the car Ive been using the E-brake around theyard. They will need attention right away esp startingwith the RF wheel.

INTERIOR: lots of sun damage here and needs alot of restohere too but still easier and cheaper then fixing rust on aneastcoast car for weeks. Rear seats still have the originalupholsterytoo ! pretty cool. They where covered up for yrs.Looks like some of the gauges are working on the dash butnot sure about the radio (could just need a speaker) and someof other electronics not working. PS doesnt move and only 1of the PW wants to move when you push the buttons. Also forsome reason I cant open the dr side back door. Floors are solidand most of the chrome inside is in really great shape too.Vinyl carpet and rubber is in pretty bad shape. The Red interior is classic for this yr car.

EXTERIOR: Original color was white and you are seeing whats leftof what looks to be the original paint from 62. Body is reallystraight for its age and only saw a few small dents around it.Also its missing I think one pcs of stainless trim. The front grillis in amazing shape and so is most of the stainless outside.Windshield in bad shape / rest of the glass seems great. IF youthere is a winner and they want the front windshield and gasketreplaced I can try to source one for you (at your expense) ifyou need help getting it done before shipping it.

SUSPENSION: all factory the best I can tell. Im sure some bushingsand stuff will be worn or close to worn out. I did notice thefront sway bar bracket on the dr side is broken too. While driving around the parking lot on short test rides nothingreally stands out that it needs except of course for the brakes.Plan on some restoration here too. Do as little or as much as youwant during the resto.

There you have it probably The BEST represented CROWNS on Ebay.Shows you all the good as well as any bad hope you appreciate them.We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows.People wait months for a car this solid to come up for saleand even if you have to pay shipping to your area it still beatspaying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end.Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these daysspeaks volumes. Also if you buy a car thats been "restored" who knows what sortof surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs arefast for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide .Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you knowexactly what you have in the end. We put these large detailedPics up so YOU and WE can see more about the cars condition.
