Description

This is a very rare 1965 Chrysler New Yorker. It is a 2 door hardtop which only 9,357 were produced in 1965. This car also has bucket seats, floor shifter and console which makes it extremely rare. I've been told there were less than 2500 New Yorkers produced in 1965 with bucket seats and floor shifter. The body and under side of this car is solid. There is no rust anywhere. The paint job is old. It still shines but there are some flaws as seen in the pictures. Don't get me wrong, t still looks good but there are some paint flaws from over the years. There are 2 spots on the passenger rear quarter panel that someone touched up with a paint brush of all things.... It could probably be wet sanded and cleaned up a bit. This car gets looks and thumbs ups every where I go with it. This car has Auto-Pilot cruise control which I am not sure if it works or not. Its unplugged under the hood and I haven't tried using it yet. The mileage on the car will keep going up slightly because I drive this car everywhere.
The engine is the original 413 big block and 727 Torqueflite transmission. Its either 340 or 360 factory horsepower and the engine has been upgraded with an Isky cam (224/224 duration @ .050, 465/.465 lift), omp Cams valve springs, ete Jackson gear drive, delbrock Performer RPM intake and a Holley 800 double pumper so its surely over 400 horsepower now. I do have the original cam and intake that will go with the car so it can be put back to stock. I do not have the stock carburetor. The engine has power but keep in mind this car weighs over 4200 pounds so it is no rocket ship. It is definitely fun to drive and can be driven anywhere. The engine has also been upgraded to electronic ignition. The rear end is an 8 3/4 with 3.23 gears and a sure-grip posi.
Please keep in mind this car is 50 years old. It is not a brand new Corvette and I am not representing it that way.
The exhaust on the car is ok but you will probably want to replace it, t least from the mufflers back. It has glasspacks on it and someone did a booger weld job on the them. It is totally driveable the way it is. The exhaust is solid and sounds like a typical glasspack exhaust but the car could benefit from larger exhaust and better mufflers. The car originally had air conditioning but it has been removed. I do have all of the original air conditioning parts that will go with the car. The suspension and brakes are all good on the car. It does leak some oil which I think is only at the valve covers. They are chrome stamped steel Edelbrock valve covers which are known for leaking. A set of aluminum valve covers will solve this problem. The car has power steering and power brakes. The fan clutch freezes up from time to time so it will need a fan clutch at some point. It doesn't hurt anything, t just defeats the purpose of having a fan clutch when it freezes up and makes it like a rigid mounted fan. The passenger side door mirror is missing. There is a rear trim piece between the body and rear bumper on the passenger side that is missing which can be seen in the pictures. The front seats have some tears because they are 50 years old. They have been taped in spots to preserve them and can be seen in the pictures. The back seat is in great condition. The seat belts are all there and work as intended. The rear power window switches need to be replaced. The driver side power window works but the passenger side doesn't. At the present time I have the window motor out of the passenger side door and am trying to find someone to rebuild it so it may or may not be fixed when the car sells. The rear quarter window motors will probably need to be rebuilt also. The weather stripping should all be replaced. The power antenna does not work and I haven't taken the time to diagnose the problem yet. The power seats work great. It does have a vacuum operated power trunk release in the glove box and it works. The stereo does not work and needs to be replaced. The previous owner must have just shoved a radio in to plug the hole. The bumpers should probably be re-chromed, t least the front bumper. The front bumper is peeling on the lower part. The tires are in great shape as well. The front tires are 215/75-15 and the rears are 255/60-15. The car will need an alignment. I believe some of the front suspension may have been replaced and the steering wheel is not straight now. I also lowered the front end a couple inches so that effects the alignment as well. The car does go straight down the road though and does not pull at all. I would not be afraid to drive this car across the country. It runs and drives that good. So it is your choice if you want to trailer it, hip it or just drive it home. This car is about 18 feet long so keep that in mind if you plan on trailering it home. Make sure the trailer is big enough!
I intended on mini tubing this car and putting a stroker in it. After finding out how rare this car is, can't bring myself to cut it up which is why I'm selling it and then looking for a Coronet, uster, tc. to make into a fast street car. That is the only reason I am selling it. The car is very safe and dependable and I do not NEED to sell it but I WANT to sell it to make room for a different hot rod.
I did my best to be honest and disclose everything I know about the car and describe it to the best of my ability. Feel free to message me with any questions or to ask for my phone number to talk. This car is definitely one of a kind and rare. You will not bedisappointed. It needs some TLC as mentioned above but the things it needs are minor and can be done here and there and allow you to keep driving it while you do work to it. I am open to offers as long as they are realistic.
