Nice 1934 Chrysler Airflow survivor from Alaska, ith a spectaculardocumented history.
A young 20 year old trapper & fisherman living in remote a Alaska village in 1934, is new Chrysler Airflow from Oregon, nbsp;a love story in Washington then back up north to Alaska with his Airflow, oating it to the Bristol Bay native village, etails of fun with hisAirflow in the Alaska frontier, nd details of the Airlfows life until the original owners death in 1995 (birth 1915).I have the this written history from thedescendants of the original owner, ereis a condensed version......
In 1935, young man from Alaska, t 20 years old, ought the Airflow brand new (it had sat new on the car lot until he bought it in 1935 per the writtenhistory). This young man had saved his money for the Airflow fromtrapping and fishing inthe Bristol Bay area of Alaska out of the remote village of Dillingham.
He drove the car to Portland, regon to see his mother in the hospital andfell in love with her nurse, oon to be his wife. After that winter break up he shipped the Airflow to Dillingham, laska. in 1936. The Airflow was even was even used in as a taxi cab on the 5 miles of dirt road in thevillage of Alaska (so cool - i have been trying to find pictures in Alaska digital archives of maybe the airflow in Dillingham during this time) The written goes on to talk about bringing his new loveto Dillingham, laskaalso, ome fun things he did with the car, ots of other cool stories. (I just lovethis stuff)
It sat instorage for years, rotected, randson inherited it fromoriginal owner in a will. I will provide all of this documentation to the new owner :) I willprovide a verbal history of everything i know about this car, icedocumentedhistory from its birth.
All parts seem to be there except for the front bumper and a rear spring seat bottom. See the pics for all the parts. I havea lot of other pics as well that i can send you.
Little story - All the parts that you see taken out in the pics- this was done a couple years back, ery recently, one professionally/gently - taken out in preparation for restoration years back, they can all go right back in. I have taken all of the parts - putlittle ones in boxes for transport in the car, nd big items (padded them inside car), ll is ready to go. These items will go with private transport carrier, acked in the Airflow - safe and secure.
I really believe she will run with some points and minor tinkering - it was lubed its lif, tsfree/turns by hand and i think this engine will run. But, am gonna leave that fun to her new owner.
The body is really is great shape - there is a thin spot on the top back left side with a hole, ome whatever little bangs on her, ut just look at that fabulous old black patina, s that original paint ?
All the air vents on the side turn freely up and down, chrome intact, put door handles and window handles back on where they belong in the car one day and everything opens/closes - doors shut tight and will seal. All the window hardware is there, ll the inside trim is there, ven the seathandles are there.
Everything on the car right now Ibelieve is how it rolled out of the factory, nbsp;I think this is original miles. Idon't think this car has been wrecked - its got some bumper bangs, nd etc - but looks good and straight fromfront to back. It got the 39 countvertical front grille bars andoriginal hood ornament.
Every original rim is there, very original hubcap (all in good shape) - and look at those old knobby tires from where it would have ran around Dillllingham,Alaska dirt roads - those tires are old, nobby, nd worn - those tires have been some places, hey look great on it.
Yep, ree Shipping. I will be paying for transport. I have madearrangements already to have your car delivered from my door step to yourdoorstep with a private enclosed antique car carrier that is back hauling out of Alaska end of August to anywhere in the lower 48. This is an enclosed custom trailer for hauling special antique cars that is coming to Fairbanks, laska (where i live) and they will pick it up and delivery it right to your frontdoor. Nice ! They are insured, his is their business. Usually takes acouple weeks to drive fromAlaska, hru Canada, nd on to lower 48. Of course - any Alaska folks - I will get her to you :)
Payment with personal check, ank transfer, ashiers check, r cash. $500 faith deposit with paypal with 24 hours of auction.
