Description

One of only 1504 2 door hardtops built!!!!
'America's Most Carefully Built Car'
In an effort to establish itself as a legitimate contender in the Cadillac class, mperial became a stand-alone division of the Chrysler Corporation in 1955. An Imperial-exclusive assembly line was the inspiration for the 1960 ad theme, America's Most Carefully Built Car.'
The 1960 Imperial continued to play off the successful 'Forward Look' styling themes introduced in 1957, ut rooflines and below-the-beltline body panels were all reshaped. In this carry-over year for Cadillac and Lincoln, he 1960 Imperial was promoted as 'America's Only All-New Luxury Car.' But while the rest of the Chrysler line shifted entirely to 'Unibody' construction, he Imperial retained its 1957-vintage body-on-frame platform.
a 413 cubic-inch, 50 horsepower, Golden Lion' Hemi V8, ushbutton Torque-Flite transmission, nd torsion-bar suspension, he mighty Imperial was highly regarded as the 'road car' in the luxury class. A 'jet-age' feature that remains fascinating today is the 'Panelscent' (electroluminescent) instrument lighting.
This is a true "barn find" car. It was literally in a barn on a corn farm in Missouri. The previous owner said he only took the car out in prefect weather. During the off seasons he started up and ran weekly since the mid-80's The car was completely original when I got it. The car had mud in the wells and on the chassis which also helped it never have any rust. The car is original paint and chrome!! The interior smelled old and a little like mouse piss. To remove that smell I was forced to replace the carpet with OEM correct matching carpet. The cloth was tattered on the drivers side, nd to make the car uniform with the unfaded new cloth, had just the cloth insert parts replaced with OEM correct fabric from SMS Auto Upholestery. I kept the super nice vinyl, ncluding the heat stamped birds on the rear and front seats. The car looks like new inside. The headliner is perfect, he dash is perfect. There are a few cracks in the steering wheel, ut less than other originals I've seen. Other than a total tune up I replace all the brakes and upgraded / converted the master brake cylinder to a dual reservoir brake master cylinder. I live in the hills and have two little kids I don't want to lose. The car is rust free. All the trim is there including the eyebrow insert shields that are always missing!!! The radial whitewall tires are brand new and all work has been within the past 6 months. The car is the top of the American car food chain. Top Chrysler, ost expensive American car that year, ne year only body style, nd did mention color!!!!! Jade Green on Jade Green!!!! Google that!! You won't find another. That is factory paint with matching factory tinted windows!!!! This car is a scene! If you are foolish and you buy a high production Tri-five Chevy, r El Dorado, ou are missing out on your one opportunity to have a Jade Green 60 Imperial. And it's not the more common 4 doors. It's the much rarer and desirable 2 door hardtop. If you're not in love, heck your pulse.
This car's condition would be a 3 without considering it's originality. My understanding is it should be closer to a 2 with the originality. The color makes it a lot more valuable and rare than the very few that are still left. More desirable than red, ink, opper and so on. The car runs and drives nicely. you could steerin with you pinky, iterally!!! I don't believe the radio works and the emergency brake return spring needs to be replaced. You have to use your foot to pull it out. The push button transmission works perfectly. The car is very smooth shifting. This is a lot of car for the too low of reserve I put on it. Way under market. Be warned, he car is around 19' long. All pictures were taken on Frida, 0/23/2015.
