I'm reluctantly offering my 1955 Chrysler 300 (Pre-Letter Series). I acquired this car about 10 years agofrom the third CaliforniaOwner. The paperwork in the Glove Box included Registrations from day one and provides a tremendous paper trail supporting the great provenance of this car. When I acquired the car, t was like a well cared for used car that had been painted and re-upholstered as needed through the years. I used this car regularly and it has always been one of my favorite cars to drive and to show-off. In 2012, he car developed a fuel leak while I was driving it and an under-hood fire ensued. The only way to properly repair the damage was to do a frame-off bare-metal restoration of the car.
Since the car was always a California car, here was not one single area of corrosion damage on the car and accordingly, o rust repair was needed. The chassis had original paint including original chalk marks from the factory (these have been preserved). The restoration included new wiring, ebuilt engine and transmission (only needed seals and gaskets) replaced carburetors with correct number Carbs, ebuilt brake and steering systems. Of course all paintwork was done to the highest level in all original colors. Exterior chrome and stainless was restored to the highest standards. Upholstery replaced (exact correct materials from Gary Goers). The car is now stunning and worthy of any type of car show.
The Chrysler 300 is considered by many to be the first "Muscle Car" and by 1956, hrysler was first to make more horsepower than cubic inches. The 300 was created by Chrysler to dominate NASCAR racing and it did so quite handily. The timelessstyling was driven by Virgil ExnerIf you are unfamiliar with these cars, suggest doing just a little research and you will find these to be certainly amongst the top 5 iconic 50's era cars.
The photos of the car were done professionally - I can send "normal" photos if interested. I've also included photos of each of the Registrations that are in the glove box along with the Owner's Manual. We had replica California License Plates produced displaying the original Registration Number.
The Wire Wheels are the originals and they have been restored though not recently - they are in superb condition.
The car is located very close to O'Hare Airport and I encourage anyone interested to inspect and drive the car.
