You have now just encountered a very rare and restored 1969 Datsun Fairlady 2000 SPL311 Roadster. For those of you who are not familiar with these Datsun 2000 Roadsters, his was Datsuns/Nissans very first sports car to hit American soil. Very few of these in left hand drive were built for the 1969 model year and these cars were built and brought here to compete with the MG's, riumphs and alike cars but without the constant oil puddles one experienced with the European cars. Reputed as a bargain sports car, he Datsun 2000 was produced to help build the Datsun racing image up. With a lower price tag than any vehicle in its class, he 2000 won its class in C Production and D-Production, n SCCA racing on a consistent basis even after production was over. John Morton, ob Sharp and several others raced the Datsun 2000,not to be confused with the Datsun 1600.
THE MODEL:
“The introduction of the 1967 SR311 and SRL311 saw a major update. Produced from March 1967 – 1970, he SR311 used a 2.0 L (1,982 cc) U20 engine and offered a five-speed manual transmission, omewhat unexpected for a production car at the time.
A well-tuned stock Datsun 2000 was capable of cruising at 120 mph (193 km/h) and capable of making better than 30 mpg (7.8 L/100 km) and red-lined at exactly 7000 rpm and 140 mph in fourth gear with a 5-speed manual. It was replaced with the more sedate, tylish, nd popular Z series”.

the car is 47 years old, nd while it is an excellent and fast car, t is not perfect. solex carburetors are hard to keep in tune, he car has squeak over bumps, he heater may not work, ut over all the car is lovely to look at, tarts INSTANTLY, nd runs strong.
