Description

First up this is a 1981 not a 1980, atsun did not go to the longer vin until later in 81 so eBay’s listing system will not let you do an 81 without the longer vin so it is listed as an 80 but it is an 81

I am listing this for my old boss, list some of his company’s products here and he and I have become good friends. Here is the info he has given me on this car.

1981 Datsun 280ZX 2+2, alifornia car.
This car has spent most of its life in California, hich explains the lack of rust in the usual places.

Someone has painted it the very popular silver over blue, ouldn’t have been my choice, like the red. The interior needs some love so I am sure the plan was to do an interior swap next.

Very recently someone has done a timing chain and head, till looks shine and new.

It needs some interior parts, use panel cover, elay cover under the hood and a few other things, ash pad is glued down so I am sure it is cracked and rear struts need to be replaced.

It has the original metal rear window louvers, ot a cheap plastic one.

Good tread on the tires, ould use an alignment, little shake at 80 MPH, otice the mismatch rims.

Aftermarket muffler is a little loud.

I picked it up because it did not run, ound it needed a pick up coil in the distributor, o I put a rebuilt distributor in it and did a tune up at the same time.

Then found a major radiator leak, luminum is better and it was cheaper to do that than rebuild the stock one, o new radiator.

Then found a water pump leak, o replaced it with a new water pump, hanged the oil and filter plus a new fuel filter, nd I have been driving it since, put about 1000 miles on it.

Near as I can tell everything works, actory radio works but not very well.

Runs great and has a lot of power, hifts smooth and starts right up.

The info center and the gauges and clock works.

I have the original invoices from Glendale Datsun in Cal. along with the original EPA tag and early dealer service records.

This is a perfect candidate for a restoration and it does not need a trailer. Restored they are going for big bucks.

as usual its an old car, o warranty sold as is.

This is the 7th Z car I have owned and it is in better shape than most of them, but my Daughter and wife don’t like them and I am getting to old to be climbing in and out of sports cars, h and I am told I have too many projects. Someone else gets to enjoy this one.
