A runaway success from new, he original Datsun 240Z has become a very sought after collectible car in recent years. These cars were ahead of their time in performance, andling and comfort with a style that still looks great today.
Unmodified and non-rusted examples of the 240 Z are becoming increasingly hard to find as more people recognize the demand for these affordable classics. This late series (7/71) 1971 model is an original Sunset Orange 4 speed car that is very solid with no rust or previous repairs to the common vulnerable areas like floors, pare tire tub or battery box mounting at inner skirt. For more detail on the body condition please note that all of the spot welds at quarter panel outer wheelhouses are visible and undisturbed. Door shells at door skin attachment are mint undisturbed. There are some very small rust bubbles starting at rear outer section of rocker panels, ery minor and not previously repaired. Car looks to be an older overall repaint of fair quality. Please note the paint is not as nice as the pictures show, t is presentable but fair at best. Other then small dents & dings, e see no evidence of any previous serious collision damage. Exterior trim is good but not perfect. Window glass is very good. Panel fit of doors, eck and hood is excellent.
Like Many early 240z's, his car is fitted with the aluminum slotted wheels from new and current tires are fair looking to be about 50% worn. Odometer reads 82,395 but true mileage is unknown.
Interior is original and really not too bad for its age but needing some attention. Worn carpets were removed and discarded to show solid, ever rusted floors. Center dash bezel is broken, ikely from some previous aftermarket radio installation. Mechanically the car is sound, good running engine with no problems, uiet with good oil pressure and no cooling issues or leaks. The L24 240Z motor has had the exhaust manifold replaced with a ceramic coated tube header but the original manifold and smog equipment come with the car. The currently installed muffler is an aftermarket, ouder than the original. Clutch and original 4 speed gearbox are fine and smooth shifting. Steering and brakes are operating correctly. Electrical system is all in order and car had a recent newly rebuilt alternator installed. The car is totally drivable exactly as you see it here.
This very desirable first series 240 Z is a great car for someone looking for an affordable car that would be a great candidate for restoration. Finding a car in this condition without rust issues is very difficult and will only become harder as the interest increases in these popular Japanese sports cars.
