Description

For Sale is a 1948 Desoto Custom Limousine. I bought the Desoto from a woman in Pennsylvania who's husband bought the car in 1981 from a local funeral parlor. Hedrove the car home and parked it in his barn andthere it sat there until 6months ago when I towed it out.

I brought the car home and filledthe cylinders with oil and got it freed up.The gas tank was cleaned, ew fuel pump, park plugs, coil andignition wires were installed.I replaced all the wheel cylinders, ront brake shoes, ront rubber brake lines, nd necessary steel lines. The brake drums were turned.

The car runs, rives, nd stops verygood, he fluid drive transmission works well. I've driven the car around the yard and up and down the street a few times. The shifter was frozen but I got it freed up, t goes into all gears easily except 1st, think it's still rust on the linkage. With the fluid drive you put it in 3rd and drive away, ou don't even need the clutch when you stop. The tires are old and a little dry rotted but do hold air.

The car is very solid and complete. There's no rot in the floors, runk floor, rame or body other than two small spots inside the rear doors under the rubber sills. (see picture). there is surface rust coming through the painton the body, he roof and hoodhave some surfacerust where there werelarge piles of bird droppings.

The car was parked close to a wooden outside wall in the barn, o dampness got to the rear passanger side of the back seat, oor panel and the rear corner of the headliner. Other than that, he other 3 door panels, ront seat and jump seats are in good shape. The dash is very nice. The speedometer and gauges all seem to work, ven the spot light works. The radio lights up but doesn't play.
