Description

1972 DODGE CHALLENGER, UST-FREE ORIGINAL CONDITION SURVIVOR - This is an original California car that migrated to WV in the mid-1980's and has been owned by the second owner until we came upon this beauty. Every body panel on this car is original "born with" sheet metal including the trunk floor. this car has never been undercoated to this day. Please examine the pictures closely. the undercarriage is amazing! You can see the areas we cleaned briefly with a lacquer rag. The factory paint dabs are still visible on the 8-3/4 rear housing, orsion bars, nd torsion frame cross-member. Even the exhaust system is original; although the muffler is now leaking slightly. A new muffler will be provided or installed (your choice). the original brake lines and cables look great also. the front suspension components are original and still serviceable. Notice it has a rear sway bar and 2.76 tag still on rear housing. this Challenger has been repainted in its original hue between 20-25 years ago and still looks great. The body is arrow straight and all panel gaps are excellent. Doors open and shut great with no sag and a solid sound, nlike most E-body's. Under the hood is very presentable. All painted areas look great. No rust present anywhere including cowl, nner fenders, r hinge area. The fender tag is present and supports the many options on this car, ncluding the Code J54 sport hood. We have only found remnants of the build sheet. Some of the options are power steering, ower brakes, uto, ir condition, isc brakes on front, nside hood release, inyl top, ight package, -speed wipers. The front bumper has been re-chromed; however, he rear bumper is original - looks nice with only slight pitting. The right rocker moulding has some slight damage. The trunk moulding has some dings. The jack and base are present, ut the spare is MIA. All glass is very nice and roll-up and down properly. All exterior moulding is nice other than the previous mentioned ones. The interior presents very nice. Although, t was originally blue. Seats, oor panels, arpet, nd headliner are all nice. The Rallye cluster was installed at the time it was painted. The odometer was set according to the old one, herefore, t reads the proper mileage of 79,587. All gauges work including the seat belts warning light and key buzzer. heat and defroster work good. The A/C has been converted to R134 and will need charged. It worked up til 3-years ago, ut the car has not been driven but very little. There are no cracks in the steering wheel or console.
Imperfections: The engine was replaced by a 1970 dated 318 due to the fact the owner didn't understand he needed antifreeze in WV during the winter. Therefore, he block froze and cracked. The current 318 and 904 were rebuilt prior to installation 25-years ago and perform properly. There is a dash cap covering the original pad which is cracked. It fits great. It has an aftermarket radio which works fine. There are a few drips under the engine/trans when sitting, ot puddles mind you. All lights, ignals, orn including trucnk, nterior, ngine compartment all work. We believe this is one of the most solid, on-modified, nbutchered, -Bodies you will ever find for the price. We do NOT represent this car to be perfect for it is not. It was renovated 20-25 years ago to a high standard. At that time and since, t has been garaged, aintained and driven sparingly. It is a very attractive car that anyone ca be proud to own. You decide .... "do I drive now or restore a rust bucket and drive 3-years later".
