Description

Up for sale is a 1972 Dodge Challenger drag car/pro street. The car started life as a green 318 challenger with a few options, it retains the original VIN tag, Fender tag, cowl and rad support stamps. The car has fresh black paint that is very nice with a few minor chips is and paired with black 1971 longitudinal RT vinyl stripes. The car has no rust whatsoever. The car has a nearly perfect vinyl top with all the trim in tact. The six pack style hood and both bumpers are fiberglass and are painted body color, the car also has TA style chin spoilers that were just installed. The car has all new front suspension with quick ratio flaming river steering box.The car also has brand new disk brakes in front with drilled and slotted rotors with a functional line lock. The transmission is a 727 with a nice 3800 stall converter and reverse pattern manual valve body shifted by a Hurst quarterstick shifter. The car has been back halfed with wheel tubs, a full four link suspension with pan hard bar and adjustable coil over shocks. The car also has weld in subframe connectors. The rear end is a narrowed 9" with Strange center section sporting a full spool and 4:88 gears along with Strange GM bolt pattern 35 spline axles with 5/8s studs and Strange disk brakes. The rear wheels are 15x15 Weld dragstars on 31x18.5-15 Hoosier Quick Time Pro tires. The interior has stock dodge high back bucket seats with a stock e body console. The door panels are in decent condition, the dash pad is near perfect. The steering wheel is a brand new reproduction tuff wheel. The car has the factory 5 gauge bezel with Brand new Autometer Sport Comp gauges. It has a 5" tach, and 4 2 5/8" gauges, fuel level, electric water temp, electric oil pressure, and volts. It also has a Dakota Digital transmission temp gauge where the heater control used to be . It also has 5 point harnesses for both seats. The car has a roll bar that goes down to the trunk floor with a main hoop and cross bar that goes behind the seat backs. The carpet is nice in the front car, the tubs are painted black. The car comes with a new headliner but it is not installed. The heater box, radio, and back seat have all been deleted. The car comes with the factory heater box. The battery has been relocated to the trunk. The car retains the factory fuel tank but a rear sump has been grafted into it in order to keep fuel supplied under acceleration. The car has a brand new fuel system with very few miles on it. It has exclusively Red Horse performance black AN fittings and black nylon braid ethanol approved hose. The car has 10an (5/8") line feeding the pump, and 8an (1/2") line feeding the regulator and feeding the carb from the regulator. The car has a 100 micron Aeromotive 10an fuel filter, Aerospace Components Ultra 350 fuel pump with built in return and regulator, the Regulator is a Quick Fuel unit with 10an feed and 8an outs with a gauge port. The car has around 1500 street miles and has 30 drag strip passes on all of the new rear/front suspension, paint, transmission ETC.. The car runs high 11s at 6000+ feet on motor with pump gas, driven to the track. The car turns heads and is set up to be an awesome pro street and drag race machine.
The car has a no expense spared 500" stroker motor that I just built. The bottom end has an Eagle forged crank with a 4.150" stroke, Eagle H beam rods, forged flat top 12.5:1 Weisco pistons. All ARP fasteners and a billet rear main. The block is a stock 440 that's bored 0.055 over. The motor has a Comp hydraulic roller cam, .544" lift, 298 duration, 110LSA attached with a Comp double roller billet timing chain, Comp roller lifters, hardened pushrods,Harland Sharp 1.6 ratio full roller rockers which bumps the lift of the cam up to near .590". It also has aluminum Edelbrock RPM heads with the roller cam springs that will handle up to .700" lift, Aluminum Edelbrock Super Victor intake with 1050 Quickfuel Dominator carb. It also comes with a Milodon 7qt oil pan, correct pickup, and stroker clearance windage tray. The motor has a Billet aluminum timing cover, Aluminum water pump and housing, ATI Super Damper and a March serpentine pulley set up complete with a 165amp Powermaster Alternator. The whole motor is held together with almost exclusively ARP polished stainless 12 point fasteners. The motor also has a brand new MSD pro billet distributor, brand new MSD blaster SS coil, and 6AL MSD ignition box with MSD 8.5mm wires and an MSD 3 step, helps to launch the car when drag racing it. The car also comes with a new Champion 4 core aluminum radiator and new dual electric 13" fans with shroud that is controlled by a Derale adjustable thermostatic fan switch. The car also has a Derale transmission cooler with small electric fan mounted to it, the transmission cooler lines are run in Red Horse performance black braid hose in 6an (3/8") with AN fittings. The car has Hooker competition headers with 3" stainless exhaust with X pipe and 3" Black Widow pro venom mufflers that dump at the axle. I have also just installed an Odyssey PC-1500 battery with 1050CCA, easily the best battery on the market. The car has brand new tubular upper control arms, brand new "late model" master cylinder with PTFE braided lines running to the prop valve, and from the frame to the calipers. There is more than twice as much money in this car as the reserve is set for. All of this maybe 500 miles on, it runs very strong and should make 500rwhp. The motor is very streetable and the cam shaft profile works well with converter and rear gearing.
You get some of the original parts, like the heater box, visors, grill trim, head light rings.
