Body is real nice, southwest no rust! No accident damage, only some small dents or scratches. Not perfect, paint is all oxidized. The interior is in need of complete redoing. Only has the front bench seat, back is open. Doors are good shape, no rust out at the bottoms.
See all that stuff in the pictures inside the back? That is all the parts to put it back together. It was taken apart, I presume to clean stuff up since many parts have nice new paint. The engine and trans are in the chassis. Divorced transfer case, all three driveshafts, radiator, grille and several smaller trim and misc parts are inside the back area. I believe it is all there, just needs to be reassembled. It sat like this for many years before I got it. My plan was to get it back together and get it running and driving. But too many projects, so the Town Wagon is ready for a new owner.
The engine is not locked up, it turns with compression. It has been sealed up with the intake/carb, exhaust manifolds and pipes, spark plugs and distributor in place. Plus was covered under the hood, so I am pretty sure the engine can run, but of course I never got around to verifying that so no guarantees. May be good shape or may need rebuilding, but you have a complete engine to use as a base.
Of course the brakes and all the fuel system are not working and need to be gone through. Same with clutch hydraulics, parts are there but needs to be rebuilt. Wiring leaves a lot to be desired, best recommendation is to completely rewire for reliability and safety, but should be enough to get some circuits tested and working.
Body is missing one piece of glass, at the driver's rear window, the one that slides at the rear. Just gone, but it's flat glass so should be easy enough to get a replacement made up. Otherwise no real body issues, all sheetmetal is there and mostly straight. Has some real heavy custom(?) bumpers, I think you could push a house over and not damage them. Three tires are better shape and hold air, the right front is real bad, but surprisingly will air up thanks to tube inside and enough to roll onto a trailer before going flat in a day or so. None of the tires should be considered as road worthy.
Dash gauges have no clue if they work or not. Seat is only good for the base, needs to be completely rebuilt and recovered.
So take this project off my hands as your new winter project. How many of these Town Wagons do you see? Especially one that is not rusted to hell. Lot of potential with this one. Not the prettiest vehicle right now, but some cleaning and assembly will make it look a lot better. Sold as-is, obviously no warranty or any guarantees - what you see is what you get. No Reserve, you bid and you can win!
Feel free to ask any questions, I tried to describe it with sufficient detail. Clear title, ready for new owner. Repeat it is not running, must be trailered or hauled. Located in Albuquerque, NM area, less than 2 miles off I-40. Buyer responsible for all transportation. $250 non-refundable deposit to winning buyer, and cash balance upon pickup of vehicle.
On Sep-09-16 at 10:12:44 PDT, seller added the following information:
Added 9/9/16: I cleaned up the back area and took two new pictures to show all of the parts better. You can see the transfer case, three driveshafts, radiator, several interior and exterior sheetmetal and trim pieces like the grille and hood top piece. The box on the right has a bunch of small parts, trim, lenses, and hardware that I am pretty sure all go to this Town Wagon. Note there are also some extra parts like dash gage cluster (partial - some gages missing), extra alternator, extra distributor and extra fuel pump (in the box). No idea if any of these extra parts are working condition, but you can have them with the truck.
In addition I added a picture showing there is some small rust in the bottom front of the passenger door, as well as some old repair to the body mount right by there. In addition there is some rust at the rear door lower frame in each bottom corner, which has some older repair work. So after cleaning it up inside, I need to take back my claim it is completely rust free. Still very small amount and better shape than most Town Wagon survivors.
Also have to clarify that both driver's and passenger's door windows are cracked and so you will need to replace those as well. Again they are flat glass so it is easy, but want to be accurate in my description.
I have had a couple questions on the height of it. It is best as I can measure about 84 inches to top of roof crown. Might want to use 85 inches to be safe. It sits high, and best as I can tell it does not have any lift kit. The fenders have a lot of clearance for putting larger tires in the future.
I am trying to list everything I know about this, and be as accurate as I can. This is a complete project that will require decent amount of work to get going again. So if you are the winning bidder, you accept that it will take time and effort to get this back to running and driving condition. This is not a 1-day or 1 week project. So no flaky buyers that claim they bid and then it does not meet their expectations. You guys that are into old car hobby know what it takes to bring back a vehicle like this. Look at the pics carefully, ask any questions, and I will give honest answers. Thanks for looking at my auction here.
Forgot in previous revision, there is also a ring gear with carrier that is extra. The ring gear has a couple chipped teeth. I can only guess if this goes to the Town Wagon? It is on the new added picture, and I have no idea if it fits the TW or just some extra part for something else. I did not chase the ID numbers on it, so you can figure it out.
