The sound you hear is opportunity knocking at your door. I encourage you to look long and hard to find a better restored Dodge Truck than this. It is that nice. "Big Red" is a 1950 Dodge 1 Ton D model long bed pick up truck that started life in 1950 on a West Virginia farm outside of Wheeling. That farmer sold it to it's second owner in 1955 by way of trading it in to a localdealer for a new one. The second owner kept it for the next 58 years. By then it was left abandon in his barn but completely original and in good solid survivor condition. That is when a well known Dodge truck restorer here in central Ohio got his hands on it and turned it into the masterpiece you see in these photos.
Larry spent the next two years painstakingly restoring every inch of this big truck inside and out. It was a frame off nut and bolt. process that covered every aspect of the truck. The engine and transmission were removed and rebuilt. The body was removed stripped bare and brought back in Dodge red with the paint quality far better than anything Dodge turned out in 1950. From the inside out and top to bottom it is better than new. Even the spare tire which you will likely never see looks as good as the ones on the ground. It is from Larry's estate that this truck is now available.
Having just completed a 100 mile drive in it I can say with confidence it drives like it did in 1950. Maybe slightly better. It has a four speed floor shifter that'sshifts smoothly through all gears. Itaccelerates nicely and stops even and straight.
It starts upcold on the first or second attempt and sounds great.
