Description
Have known this truck since new. The first non jeep welcomed into the Chuckwalla Jeep Club established in 1956. Was willed to me after my "second" dad passed. He called it "ole Yeller" and it was his pride and joy.I replaced all the sheet metal with an Az rust free donor. The running gear is all original and it runs/drives great. Finished it a few years ago and it just sits around now. I think it is a shame that it's not being used and I know that Kerrby(the original owner) would rather have it go to someone who would use it than to have it just sit around. It is a real looker and the paint and overall finish is beautiful. I painted everything in pieces so there are no parts unpainted or just painted over. I had the bed "Line X" painted in body color. The drive train is original with a new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing... I replaced all the freeze plugs when I had the body off except the one on the back of the motor...you guessed it... the rear one started leaking. It was a real chore... and expensive too(10 spline 2 ton 11" clutch pressure plate and slave cylinder) to remove transmission but couldn't sell it without doing the right thing.radio fuel gauge and temp gauge quit working. I replaced the fuel gauge (which has the voltage regulator in it) and gauges still didn't work.Seems both the fuel and temp sending units dont work as both gauges will inch up if I ground each wire at sending unit.Heater valve started leaking so heater box is by-passed. The motor purrs but does puff a little white smoke when first started(typical mopar small block valve guide seal issue).Brand new warn hubs. All new rubber seals and weatherstripping. Repo rubber mat. Beautiful door panels and sun visors.Rebuilt and recovered seat.Added later retractable seatbelts. Rebuilt drive shaft(between trans and transfer case).Kerrby was real proud of the rims that he had made back in the day(way before true tracks or any other off road tires). So I stuck with them had them blasted and powder coated and sprung for matching 16.5" tires rather than put later 16" set up on.Drove it up to Death Valley after it was finished for a Chuckwalla run and re-union with members from the club... his widow met me there and cried as we went for a run with the group. It hasn't been off road since and I just take it to car shows now. Really would like to find it a good home with a new proud owner that will cherish it as Kerrby did. Actual mileage is un-known as the speedo didn't work. Replaced cable and housing with new and then found that speedo correcting unit at transfer case was froze-up. Rebuilt unit so speedo works now.On Jun-11-15 at 18:50:56 PDT seller added the following information:
