I am selling my (original Owner) 1978 Dodge Magnum XE as I will be needing additional garage space for my next car, o I have decided to sell my Immaculate Factory OEM/NOS Fresh 1978 DODGE MAGNUM XE This Magnum XE (California Car) without a doubt one of the finest examples of ANY 1978 Survivor Car in America… Positively it must be the nicest example of a 1978 Dodge Magnum XE Survivor Show Car, have collected scores of first place wins whenever shown in its respective class. Original 53K mile TRUE CALIFORNIA CAR it’s never left the state of California NOT ONCE since I got it brand new in 1978… I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER… yes I got this Magnum brand spanking FULLY LOADED with almost $3000 in Factory Options on a car that carried a base price of $5499 it was rare to find one with another $3.000 in dress up, erformance and luxury Options!!… I got the new from Mike at West Valley Dodge (Now Defunct) in Los Gatos California 37 years ago… Options include Basic Group – Air Conditioning, inted Glass ALL WINDOWS, ight Package, andau Vinyl ½ roof (very hot styling feature in 1978) Undercoating, Hood Silencer Pad, eluxe intermittent Windshield Wipers that’s just for starters then let’s add all these other luxury, ress up and convenience items listed below Deluxe color keyed seatbelts, runk Dress-Up featuring carpet and chrome trim with space saver spare (Never Used to this day!), eavy Duty Non-Lockup (fortunately) Torque Flight Transmission, 18-4V Engine, ual Sport Mirrors (body Color), lectronic Digital Clock, edal Dress-Up (chrome trim on Gas, -brake and Brake pedals to give a deluxe look!, ood and Deck Stripes, actory Vinyl body side molding, Factory Locking Gas Cap, eluxe Protective rub strips on bumpers front and rear for much improved finished luxury look, uto speed control, ower Steering, ower Brakes, ower Door Locks, ower Driver Seat, ower Trunk Release, ower Antenna, eather Steering wheel, Tilt Wheel, /C (which still blows ICY COLD), Intermittent Wipers (new for 78 and rare), Cruise Control, ual Sport (Racing Style) Remote Mirrors, runk dress up, actory Locking gas cap, ull Luxury Rub strips on bumpers front and rear (Rare Option), uper Sporty Aluminum Fascia True Road Wheels with XE Centers (Ultra Rare) like the other road wheels better remove the aluminum facia's and find the Road Wheels behind them, ich and Plush Corinthian Leather (Driver Side Power Seat, assenger Power Seat was not an available option) Bucket Seats with Dual Recliners (1978 option only!) With separate center folding armrest option… (These are true individual bucket seats not a 60/40 deal!!!) This Magnum was Garage kept since new (still has new car smell… NO JOKE) This car is as close to flawless condition as one will ever find… this car has never been outside CALIFORNIA In its life… This is a TRUE CALIFORNIA ONE OWNER CAR… Which is a real advantage as cars on the east coast rust away to nothing… this car has never ever been in snow and rarely in rain… The seats are without any mark as they always had soft material placed on them and then I sat on that… no contact between my clothes and the seats is why they look as they do… FLAWLESS! Motive Power Comes in the form of the ultra-reliable and powerful 318-4V workhorse that runs like a Swiss watch. Starts and runs like a dream… Magnums despite their sporty good and NASCAR Heritage unfortunately were not overly fast compared to a new Hellcat Challenger whether you got a 318, 60 or 400. This car has lightly and but tastefully modified over the years with Carter 6139S Thermo-Quad 4BBL (same as used as a replacement for the 71 Dart 340. True Dual Exhaust without Cats, range Box ignition, /T (Mickey Thompson valve covers which are valuable (Vintage Speed Parts) as they are not common at all for Mopars installed about 1980 long before Mickey Thompson’s death in 1988, nd the complete performance distributor kit from Direct Connection. Cosmetically there is practically zero deviance from stock… the main part is expensive painted on strips to authentically duplicate original tape strips.. This has the Extra Heavy Duty 999 5-Clutch transmission Wide Intermediate Band Transmission rebuilt and improved by the experts at Automotive Performance Specialists as seen in Mopar Muscle Years ago… They actually manufacture parts to make a torque flite transmission shift like it should!!!... And does it ever… it’s the finest shifting 3 speed torque flite transmission you will ever drive precise and robust Just installed an NOS MOPAR Grille and NOS MOPAR Lights and NOS MOPAR cornering lights up front… I had for years to make it even more factory fresh. Vehicle was painted in 1983 at a cost of $4000 years ago approximately $10,000 in today's dollars... Why... Because I was writing in numerous automobile magazines and I wanted the best... So I bought it... the car was dressed with German Glasurit Polyurethane Paint (MATCHED FACTORY COLOR) and hand striped by a master striper as seen in magazines… he did it in paint to very closely duplicate the original stripes but in paint for a luxury tape can not give… the Original tape stripes in my opinion looked cheap not up to a Master's paint job or to the caliber of Ricardo Montobalns Rich Corinthian Leather inside the car… So I had the best striper I could find duplicate the strips... I wanted a Lamborghini style quality SHOW CAR finish and I got it There is not one door ding, crape, hip or anything in this car, lass (Factory tinted all around) is awesome with ZERO delamination… the overall condition is positively a 9.99 Condition out of 10, arpet is flawless, ash is flawless with NO CRACKS and still supple, indows still have Road Ready Sticker on then and original front window has the perfect condition emission sticker affixed from when it was made in 1978, Seats are SUPPLE and PERFECT… This car IS NOT like the heaps one sees on eBay typically with rusted floors and blown out motors… this is COLLECTOR GRADE, LTIMATE SURVIVOR GRADE This is truly a “A+++ COLLECTOR GRADE ORIGINAL OWNER Survivor Car”… It is 100% ROAD READY could drive anywhere especially to shows… it’s one in a million.. It’s not just any car… It’s a REAL MAGNUM XE! This car does not have all the original smog equipment installed that is one reason why it runs so well!!!... Smog Devices would need to be reinstalled to use in VERY SMOG RESTRICTIVE STATES like CALIFORNIA... PLEASE check with your local ordinances before bidding... I will not reinstall smog devices or pay to have them reinstalled! Here is interior shots any bleaching of colors is due to sunlight reflections and my ADMITTEDLY totally crappy photography skills... not an actual defect…I think these photos demonstrate that unbelievable condition of interior… Dual recliners offer big comfort and are probably reflective of the time the car was made… a free love attitude Anything Goes in 1978… Disco Mirror Balls, aturday Night Fever, latform Shoes and Angel Flite Pants… HAHA... Yes original BLUE CA Plates... You can find a CHEAPER Magnum on eBay or Craigslist with rust and a burned out interior and whooped motor... then pay 3X as much trying to restore it to a condition like mine... but you never will as the parts are not available... Want a Magnum then buy the best up front... It will save you huge dollars in the end!!!
