Description

"PLEASE READ FULL LISTING BEFORE BIDDING"
Up for auction is a very rare 1983 Kelmark GT kit car that my fatheracquired 10 years ago from Indiana. The car basically just sat as part of his collection and served as a conversation piece more than anything. It has an Indiana title and when my dad went to transfer it here in NJ the DMV gave him more grief than he wanted to deal with. NJ needs allreceipts for the build of this car followed up by a full inspection to allow it to be put on the road...... With that said I will be listing this as "NO TITLE" . If your interested in working on getting a fresh title I have the name and address of the prior owner that had it titled. Less than 600 miles have been put on this car since its creation. I have a full build sheet on this car with great detail of every part, nut and bolt that went into it but no "actual"receipts. Even with no title this car could betransformed into a track or drag car. Would be pretty nasty with an Old's Tornado power plantin which some of the early Kelmark's had. Or maybe a Caddy Northstar??? The car only weighs 1800Lbs and is a great platform for whatever you want to do.
The Kelmark resembles the '74 Ferrari Dino very closely. It sits on a 1969 VW beetle chassis. The Body is a one piece fiberglass design. It has roll up side widows unlike the early Kelmark's . All the fiberglass is in perfect condition. The gel-coat paint is in very good condition but needs frequent polishing to keep it looking good. Weatherstrips need some TLC. Left rear rubber bumper end is broken. Would look better if removed all together anyway. The interior is all there but needs some TLC . From years of sitting some electrical items such as gauges and lighting may need some work. The tires have less than 600 miles on them. It has a huge pair of 295/50/15's on rear and 235/60/15's up front. The rubber is showing some minor cracking from ag, In my opinion they should be good for a few more years without concern. The Cragar wheels have some oxidation.
The 1600cc Engine, trans and clutch work as you would expect considering its donor was a 45+ year old Beetle. It has dual Weber carbs with some chrome goodies. Some oxidation on Chrome but overall looks descent. Seems it could use a valve adjustment, some tapping is noticed on the right side valve cover area.
I have a lot of literatur, a full service manual and even the originaltemplates for interior carpeting and panels. It is very simple to work on. Picture on plaque was taken in 2003 where it took 2nd place in theIndianapolis world of wheels car show. It wouldn't take much to get it back to that level. I require a $250 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours end of auction full payment and pick up of car no later than 7 days end of Auction unless other arrangements are made.
