Ferrari's 400i was introduced in 1979 as the successor to the 400. The "i" suffix signified the car's Bosh K-Jetronic fuel-injection system, hich replaced the triple Weber carburetors found in the earlier model. Ferrari produced the 400i in two variants, ike the original 400. These were the 400 GTi, hich boasted a five-speed manual transmission, nd the 400i Automatic, hich was equipped with a three-speed automatic.
An ideally practical Ferrari grand tourer, his particular 400i was born a European delivery model, hich was eventually imported into the States by a Florida resident in May of 1986. EPA records confirm delivery information. The Ferrari is appropriately finished in period Burgundy over Tan leather upholstery with black and brown accents, ll power equipment, ood grained console and the highly desired manual 5-speed transmission. It shows well as a pampered driver with glossy paint in original color, harmingly mellowed leather and excellent carpet. A wood rimmed Nardi steering wheel and Blaupunkt radio compliment the cabin, s well as correct Chromodora wheels with mounted TRX tires. Both engine bay and undercarriage are nicely detailed, orrect and orderly. An attractive full-stainless exhaust system replaces the original mild steel, dding longevity and a wonderful note. A nice file of servicing records indicates the car received an extensive amount of mechanical restorative work in the early millennium to all systems, ncluding the cooling, raking, lectrical, lutch/transmission, op end and tires.
Importantly, his car comes with the original Owner's manual in folio, pare assembly and jack + accessories in leather roll. The 400i has always had a keen following of enthusiasts looking for understated luxury combined with traditional Ferrari V-12 power. A wonderful highway-cruiser or ready for a quick sprint through the gears, t's the ideal "driver" for those looking to enjoy the finer points of Ferrari ownership with company.
