Description

Up for auction is a rare 1969 Mustang Mach 1. It is an original "Q" engine coded 428 Cobra Jet, speed manual transmission car. I began the restoration about a year and a half ago and am trying to clean out several projects before the winter weather sets in. This is truly an exceptional start to a great car. The car is originally Candy apple red, ith black Mach 1 interior. It has several desirable options including a fold down rear seat, onsole, ower steering, ower disc brakes (front) and power drum on the rear. A 3.50:1 Nodular cased 9 inch Posi traction rear end. I also have all of the identification tags including door tag, uck tag, ash plaque and clear title. All of them except the stamped apron numbers where removed prior to media blasting. The restoration was started with just that. The body was placed on a rotisserie and media blasted. All rusted metal was removed and new, ostly dynacorn, heet-metal placed. Everything is welded as close as we could to factory likespot weld. The carreceived full rear quarter panels, one piece floor pan, ail light panel, runk pans, adiator core support and battery tray. Anew set of dynacorn door shells were hung. The dog house is all originalFord steel and in very good shape. Short Boss style hood scoop with wiring. Also the front to rear harnessand tail light harness was put back in.The frame railsand torque boxes are original with the exception of the rear rail extensions pieces where the rear shackles attach. The body was then painted with red oxide etching primer to mimic that ofa factory job. The underside of the roof and inner firewall were sprayed with lizard skin ceramic heat and sound deadener. A firewall mat and head liner insulationis still needed but this should help with noise reduction andheat throughthe firewall. The engine compartment was painted with a satin blackindustrial paint. All of the glass is original and in good shape. The door glass is 1970 bolt in style still installed in the old doors. The front suspension was reinstalled with new upper and lower ball joints, nner and outer tie rod ends, nd a old but rebuilt slave cylinder and power valve. The disc brake rotors are new along with all bearing and races. There are no calipers or no lines. The rear end was reinstalled, eaf springs have all new bushings and shackle kits. The interior is mostly complete, ron buckets, old down, ll fiberglass rear panels that are uncut and in very good shape. A new dash pad was installed along with a checked and cleaned original underdash wiring harness. Its original tach dash and clock have also been put back in. Included for the interior is a new carpet set. I have various pieces of new weatherstripping including the rear glass weatherstrip. The headlight buckets and grill support are included they are both in need of repair but could be used. There is a new gas tank installed. There is NO ENGINE, t has already been sold. It was not the original engine. It comes with a small input shaft top loader with an FE bell housing and a flywheel balanced for the CJ engine that was in it. Most of the parts to complete the car are here. Please ask if you are unsure or don't see something in the pictures. The earlier photos do not have the dash reinstalled.
