EXTREMELY RARE 1929 PIECE THAT WAS IN THE HARRAH'S CASINO COLLECTION IN NEVADA OUT OF WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED IN 1986 AND THROUGH A KRUSE AUCTION FOR $16,750 AND COLLECTED PRIVATELY. THIS 1929 FORD MODEL AA IS BELIEVED TO BE THE FIRST PTO DRIVEN HYDRAULIC DUMP FROM FORD AS A PROTOTYPE. THE HYDRAULIC DUMP BED DID COME AVAILABLE AS A FACTORY OPTION THE FOLLOWING YEAR, N THE 1930 MODEL AA.
AN EXTREMELY FINE EXAMPLE OF A WELL PRESERVED COLLECTIBLE THAT WILL LIKELY NOT BE SEEN AGAIN.APPEARING BRIEFLY THIS WILL PROBABLY DISAPPEAR FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG, OSSIBLY FOREVER AND THEN BECOMING UNOBTAINABLE. THIS TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH A HYDRAULIC DUMP, OOD AND STAKE BED KNOWN AS THE "GRAIN BED". YOU WILL NOTE THE RARE "B" ON THE REAR KNUCKLE, ENOTING THE EARMARKS OF THE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER FACTORY 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS AA ENGINE HAND CRANKS WITH EASE, UNS, RIVES IN ALL 4 GEARS PLUS REVERSE AND BRAKES REMARKABLY WELL. THE BATTERY AND STARTER MAKE THIS A MUCH EASIER TO START TRUCK. THE CAB'S WOODED FLOOR (THAT IS PICTURED SITTING IN THE REAR GRAIN BED) IS EXACTLY HOW IT WAS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE SO ALTHOUGH THE CAB FLOOR HAS BEEN CAREFULLY PLACED IN THE CAR AND REINSTALLED, HE TRUCK'S CAB MOUNTED INTERIOR HYDRAULIC LEVER IS NOT ATTACHED. THE FLOOR WAS BELIEVED PULLED UP TO ACCESS THE BATTERY. A NEW BATTERY HAS BEEN INSTALLED. THE TRUCKS HYDRAULIC BED WILL BE REMAIN DISCONNECTED AND A NEW OWNER CAN BE THE FIRST TO PULL THAT LEVER IN MOST LIKELY MANY, ANY DECADES! THE TIRES HOLD AIR FAIRLY WELL, AVE ONE, HICH HAS A SLOW LEAK THAT BEGINS TO MANIFEST AFTER ABOUT A DAY.
GALION AND WOOD MFG. CO. BUILT ALL OF THE DUMP BODIES OFFERED BY FORD ON THEIR HEAVY-DUTY AA AND BB CHASSIS DURING THE 1930S. GALION (NOW GALION GODWIN TRUCK BODY CO.) IS THE OLDEST KNOWN TRUCK BODY MANUFACTURER STILL IN OPERATION TODAY. AS THIS MAY BE VERY WELL BE THE FIRST FORD DUMP TRUCK EVER MADE AS A PROTOTYPE, OU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS DETERMINATION. THE HYDRAULIC DUMP WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDERING STARTING IN THE 1930 FORD MODEL YEAR. THE FLOOR, ED AND DUST AS SHOWN WERE AS THE CAR WAS OBTAINED. THE DUST AS PICTURED WILL REMAINS ON THIS FINE TRUCK IN OUR GALLERY. AUTHENTICITY IS WELL DEMONSTRATED WITH AMAZING PERIOD PAINT AND PATINA AND VIRTUALLY NO RUST. THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR AS SHOWN IN THE PICS HAS GONE MISSING SINCE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN. CERTAINLY NOT AN AFTER THOUGHT IS THE WOOD BED. AS THIS WAS NO DOUBT 1ST CUTTING LUMBER (TREES WERE HUNDREDS OF YEARS OLD BEFORE HARVESTING) AND THE TRUCK ITSELF IS NEARLY 90 YEARS OLD, ND THE CONDITION OF THIS BED IS BREATHTAKING IN WHAT IS LIKELY THREE CENTURY OLD WOOD.
THIS WOULD CERTAINLY MAKE A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION OR THE CENTER PIECE TO A CONTRACTOR DEVELOPER HEADQUARTERS LOBBY.
