Description

Many believe the third generation Thunderbird is where Ford really got their idea of a personal luxury cruiser together, nd this 1963 Ford Thunderbird shows all the reasons why. Offering full-sized luxury, nd comfort, ith fantastic good looks, his was the choice of the 60s icons like President JFK.This bird is about more than just owning an American classic wrapped in fantastically glossy red. This is about showcasing that brief time in automotive history when designers ruled over engineers, nd they got to build the cars they wanted. A sleekly rounded hood that ends at a point to give this Thunderbird a true beak. A chrome line that runs from the front point to the tailfin. Those jet-inspired taillights that are prominent thanks to a bright bumper that tapers inwards. All this intricate design work needs to be as complete, nd straight, s this T-bird is to really make an impression wherever it goes. This convertible is also rare. With less than 6,000 produced, ver half a century ago, here are not many that survived this nicely today. Some of our pictures show a very cool matching red tonneau cover, hat goes over the back seats. No, his is not one of the ultra-rare Sports Roadster models. Instead, his one offers the versatility of a back seat and a much more reasonable price, ut you can still wow your friends with this removable fiberglass cover when you want. The bright red interior is equally stunning, beautiful mix of '60s cool design, nd high-end luxury. Buckets seats and a console were the only way to get your Thunderbird in 1963. There's also the "Tilt-Away" steering wheel that impresses your friends, nd it also really does make it easier to get in and out of the low-slung convertible. The beautiful round gauges have a elegant look with each in their own pod, nd the band of anodized aluminum trim stretching across the dash and into the doors adds some great contrast. There is an AM/FM cassette stereo that was added later in life, ut its chrome face and knob-style function makes it fit in nicely. When the tonneau cover is off there's plenty of room in back for full-sized adults. The power windows and power convertible top means the world opens up to you with the touch of a few buttons.Ford's large 390 cubic-inch V8 was standard equipment in 1963. Advertised with 300 horsepower on tap, t moves this cruising convertible around with ease. It fires up nicely with an authoritative hum out of the dual exhaust that seems perfect for this mature T-Bird. The engine bay is quite stock, nd that's a good thing, ecause Ford dressed its premium cruiser with an oversized air cleaner and valve covers painted in an attention-grabbing gold. Power steering and brakes help keep the ride luxurious. Plus, ou might notice this one had the rear fender skirts removed (included with the car though) to show the classic Kelsey-Hayes chrome wire wheels, further tribute to the Roadster model. And mounted to those wheels are modern Hankook tires that give this Thunderbird better grip than any 60s-style rubber. This is a beautiful, nd rare T-Bird, ith all the right elements making it look like an ultra-rare Sports Roadster. The only difference is you get a more practical classic at a much more affordable price. Call today!!
