The truck is built on a '37 Ford truck frame with a '39-40 Ford front axle and brakes with split wishbones up front and a mid 60s Pontiac Posi-trac rear axle with has the tag on the filler plug and ladder bars in the rear. Both front and rear axles have the old school transverse leaf springs, nd old school shock brackets mounted front (shorty) and rear (KYB). The rear axle is massive and has huge 12 inch brakes; a 15 inch wheel barely fits over them.
The frame still needs some finish work; the inner frame rails were boxed and the rest of the boxing plates come with the truck to finish the rear section of the frame. Brake components (drums) are all there, ront and rear, ut need gone through. There is a new dual master power booster setup under the cab with a frame mount brake pedal. The lines need to be completed and bled.
Wheels up front are 15 inch early Ford with New Coker bias ply - Rear wheels are 15inch GM steel with Vintage NOS Foremost AFX Drag slicks. All wheels have vintage stainless beauty rings. Steering is through an early Mustang manual box and drag link.
The cab is a '38 Ford that has been chopped and channeled 4 inches. The floor a couple inches so it sits down over the frame a bit more. The firewall is recessed. Perimeter and center of cab floor has been reinforced with box tubing. The cab itself is really pretty decent, ust a little rust coming through on the bottom of the passenger door. The front and rear windows have new green tinted safety glass and the garnish moldings have been cut to fit. The cowl vent and the windshield crank are both functional. The rear tail lights are early Model A.
The bed is a '36 that was shortened about 8 inches in the middle. A later model pickup bed was cut and installed. The original tailgate has the Ford script and hinges. An aluminum fuel tank is installed in the bed with an electric pump. Truck also comes with a nice '36 Ford truck grille, ew aluminum radiator and an electric fan.
Truck comes with a bunch of other vintage parts as well including a full set of vintage Sun Gauges with a Stewart Warner speedo, 68 Camaro steering column with an early Moon steering wheel and bucket seats, ld Ford headlights with turn signal installed inside the bucket, nd a Ford Mustang shifter. A 12-circuit universal wiring harness & So-Cal ignition switch are installed. The charging system is by a 1-wire Ford alternator.
Engine is an early Ford 1961 FE 352 (C1AE heads & C3AE intake) with MERCURY valve covers, acked by a new C6 transmission from Hughes. Exhaust is through Hedmann Headers and Magna flow mufflers. The driveshaft is new from AZ Differential. The motor was running when purchased, owever I think the torque converter was not on completely and is causing a bind.
So if you are looking for a traditional Hot rod project, ere it is - still needs some work to finish and drive, ut an awesome start that looks right and has a lot of Vintage hard to find parts.
