Description

Up for auction is a beautiful 1961 Ford Galaxie Town Car. This car owned and being sold by a young soldier who needs $$ to buy his girl an engagement ring, uy this car and support a soldier at the same time! Listing price is set for NO RESERVE...so you're bidding to buy it.
Car has been the soldiers daily driver, aking 200 mile trips between home and college. This car is a joy to drive. There's lots to like: New aluminum radiator, ew chrome surge tank, ew power brake vacuum assist and master cylinder, ew tires, ecent paint job, ew head gaskets, eads decked, xhaust manifolds surfaced ground & new gaskets, ew starter solenoid, airly new battery, ew alternator, ll the lights work as they should, rakes are good and stop straight. New heater core! Car's heater now blows nice and hot,
Some awesome and unique upgrades! LEATHER interior! The red and white leather is stitched period correct, uch better than the old vinyl & cloth, nd you can see how cool it looks in the pics. New matching leather door skins. Engine is a rebuilt and upgraded 390. Cam upgrade, delbrock aluminum intake. Aftermarket 4bbl carb that came with car was junk,..I had a Holley racing 2bbl carb on shelf, o I swapped...no loss of power, o 4bbl hesitation, nd improved gas mileage. Flowmaster stainless dual exhaust with 3 inch pipes and chrome tips. Once car's warmed it fires at the first touch of the starter, nd you can NOT beat the deep sound of this powerful 390 purring at idle, r coming to life when you hammer down!
As with all antique cars, here are issues. For most of this car's life, t was a southern belle, ut of Atlanta...but there are a few rust areas that need attention. The hood is rusted on one corner, omeone just put bondo over, nd of course, t's cracked and chipped. It might be repairable, s the rest of the hood is in good shape...or you can just replace. Front fenders are in good shape, o rust issues. FRAME SOLID! No rust issues at all. ROCKERS...great shape! Floors...good and solid. Top, olid. Quarters...I've pictured the rust showing over the rear wheels, o rusted through there yet...but lower quarters behind rear wheels need lower patch panels. The Chrome trim covers the ugly, ut I've pictured the visible damage. Fortunately, he whole trunk area is solid, o issues. DOORS..worst area is bottom corner of drivers door, t needs repaired...but it is repairable. Drivers back door has a small area too, lso pictured. There's a leak somewhere in the cowl around the driver vent..we've tried all we know to find & fix, ust not successful yet. But, f the car will be garaged, hat's no issue. In all, his is a SOLID and super nice looking car you can buy, rive it away and proudly show off while you tinker with the issues.
Aside from rust, here are a handful of minor issues. Dome light switches in jams don't work. Heater fan works most of the time...dirty switch? Horn guts missing, ut we do have the horn ring and it's perfect. Since the ring can sometimes come off without the tension spring, e keep it off most the time. There is a horn button on the floor that works fine. Vacuum wipers work...but they're vacuum. If you've had a car with vacuum wipers, ou know. Car did NOT have belts at birth. We have a nice set of brand new red laps belts that go with car, ust haven't had time to install. Headliner mostly good, as a small tear towards the back. Passenger sunvisor broken. Visor there, houldn't be hard to replace. Right rear door latch doesn't work, ence the bungie cord in the pic. Keeps the door shut. Shouldn't be hard to repair if you know how to repair it. I don't. Other doors work just fine. I think that covers all the knick-knack tinker items to call.
Look at the pictures, 've done my best to point out all the flaws, nd the positives are obvious...it's a beautiful specimen that's ready to cruise, nd being a roomy 4 door, hy not double date?
Winning bidder will send paypal deposit of $500 same day of winning auction. Balance to be paid within 5 days of auction end...Paypal or cash.
Thanks for looking, idding and buying, ou'll be helping a young soldier make his marriage proposal happen. How often do you get such a good story when you buy a car?
