Great moments in time are usually marked by events and people. But if you are a car guy maybe they are defined by the cars you drove or coveted. Such is the case with the car we have here… and my friend that owns it.
This is an absolutely gorgeous nut and bolt ground-up restoration of an originally delivered Arizona Truck. This Metallic Green on Black 1968 Bronco is an All American all the way. What could represent strong and durable better than this wonderful modernized off-roader from the early days of SUV’s.
This Bronco was completely restored by a gentleman in Arizona about ten years and then redone by the most recent owner over the last three years.
Everything has been carefully thought out and rendered meticulously in this modern rendition of one of America’s most coveted little trucks from the late 60’s and early 70’s. From the modern comfort designed leather seats to the rugged design of the dash and LED turn signals to the locking storage boxes, up holders and armrests carefully and ergonomically placed. No smell of gasoline thanks to a modern fuel injected engine that gets great mileage thanks to a matching overdrive 4-Speed Transmission. Over $70K has been invested to create this fine machine.
BODY & PAINT
Green is always an interesting color to get right and a really hard color to shoot for pictures depending on the light outside and the color of the sky. However, ith this gorgeous Metallic Green it was really quite easy and I think you will see in the pictures how I tried to capture it’s beauty in bright light and in shade. In either case this is simply one of the most beautiful Greens Metallics I have ever seen applied to an automobile. The owner believes it is a Mustang Color that would be easily described as a Medium Green Metallic.
I recently sold a 1967 Corvette in Goodwood Green for another friend and it is a stunning color and so did others as it was the most popular color on a 1967 Corvette. These two colors are very close in some lighting conditions, specially in shade. The first eight pictures were taken out in the sunlight in the morning near the beach, he rest of the pictures were taken later day in the shade… so you can distinctly see the difference depending on the light.
It’s almost a Jade Green except that in the shade it takes on a darker hue that is really rich and vibrant. I really appreciated this color in whatever light I was taking pictures. This particular green is one of the best colors I have ever seen on this body style.
The paint work is wonderfully applied over first-rate bodywork using two-stage PPG urethane. The paint is smooth, eep and mirror like, aving obviously been color sanded to near perfection. The paint on a scale of 1-10 is a 9.9. Period. There is one small scratch behind the passenger side door (see picture) otherwise it would be a 10.
The body on this truck is stunning. I can find no evidence of bondo anywhere on the vehicle after taking my magnet to almost every inch of the car. The body panels are all perfectly flat. The doors, ood and rear gate gaps are all within microns of each other in width. The pictures display every single shut line and I think you will agree. All the edges were sanded to perfection before paint was applied.
This appears to be a never hit body. This is Show Truck/SEMA Quality and is clearly the reason why seven years ago it was a feature vehicle in one of the Bronco Magazine. I am trying to get a copy of the article.
The entire car was completely stripped and disassembled for the work, o every single nook and crevice was faithfully prepped and finished to better-than-new. This beauty is show car ready.
The BC Broncos Top ($2000) is a gorgeous unit, ith snap-off side windows that make for a really cool look. It’s a “snap” to take off the side and back windows; literally remove then in two minutes, aking for a convertible type feel without having to have the sun beat on your head. The top piece of the top is a pretty easy removal as well for full top down driving. This is one nifty setup and is reminiscent of the Range Rover Defender 90 tops from the early 90’s.
And just in case you’re wondering, es, t runs even better than it looks. The current owner has a little perfectionist in him, nd to say this car has been sorted by a master car connoisseur is an understatement. The 1997 Ford Mustang 5.0 was completely gone through less than 2000 miles ago and a year ago the transmission was completely rebuilt with nary a few hundred miles on it. It simply starts, dles and drives down the road effortlessly with as much power as a Bronco should ever have. It is a correct Ford 4-speed overdrive trans to match the engine. The entire package performs flawlessly and gallops down the road at 70 mph at less than 2000 revs per minute.
Now these old Broncos are notorious for drifting aimlessly like a covered wagon on steroids down the freeway, ot the case here with this completely new suspension from front to back. Braking is flawless with discs at all four wheels. The entire braking system has been completely gone through.
Better than new also extends to the chassis that has been highly detailed and painted. The power disc brake system has been fully rebuilt, here’s a new oversized gas tank out back, nd all the suspension bushings and shock absorbers are new. There is an additional gas tank location should you need more than 20 gallons. The additional tank gas cap is already located on the side of the truck.
The Undercarriage is nicely detailed and looks like it rolled off the assembly line yesterday. The vehicle sits dead level. The overall ride quality is amazing and the truck tracks down the road straight and true.
Suspension, rakes and Front-End are all NEW.
Inside, ou’ll find one spectacular interior. The Black Leather Upholstery looks just right next to the Metallic Green Exterior. The Interior has been fully restored to a wonderful restomod look. The seats are black leather bucket style made for a Bronco Interior. The recline nicely and are one of the most comfortable seats I have experienced in one of these Broncs. Gray Wool Carpeting graces the floors with Dynamat neatly installed underneath, n the door panels and firewall.
The Center Console is really awesome and has a huge locking box for storing of all kinds of stuff. Just to the front of the locking box is the cleverly installed stereo system. Hidden behind each front seat is a nine inch JBL Speaker built into the contoured/moulded sidewalls. Those moulded sidewalls also hold a nice arm pad and cup holder for the rear occupants. Behind the rear seat is two sets of Polk/Momo Subs and tweeters. This stereo set up is amazing and one of the nicest sounds I have ever heard in any modern vehicle. Everything is wrapped in a Rhino type moulded material and matches the front Dash Console and Overhead Console with switches and storage bins.
The Undercarriage is in remarkably clean and tidy… everything is fresh and new underneath and there are zero leaks.
Driving this Brand New Bronco is a dream, t has plenty of get up and go and tracks down the road straight and true. Every single component of this vehicle is in tip-top shape. From the AC to the Climate Control, ll gauges and the wiper system. Nothing was left to chance in the restoration of this Bronco.
Handsome, ast, nd mechanically sorted to perfection, his Bronco is exactly the kind of car we all wish we could own. Here’s your chance to own a pure classic that has been meticulously restored into a new modern style off-roader.
