Bought this in Pittsburgh, A (where I'm from) in early November with 102,000 miles. It was in California from 1989-2009, hen made its way to Pittsburgh, o it's really clean for its age. Low amount of rust, nd the minimal rust that was on the body I took care off, o it's nice and clean.
I bought it with a rebuilt transmission, ut I put a fresh filter, asket, nd fluid into it for my peace of mind. The guy I bought it off of also put on a new brake master cylinder, attery (Silver Autocraft date 6/14), xternal radiator cooler (with the tran. rebuild), nd the spark plugs look newer as well.
I've gotten a lot out of it. Love the thing, eally. Very cool vehicle that's pretty easy to work on. I've used it to drive from Pittsburgh to Lexington and back multiple times without a hitch, n addition to it being our daily driver for our regular 40 minute trips to and from Athens. It gets roughly 22 miles/gallon according to my calculations.
Right now it needs a new RABS valve, o the brake fluid leaks slowly. It still drives and stops fine, o I have been putting off the replacement job--which is accessible and fairly simple, ut the part newly re-manufactured is $120. It's also been starting hard for me over the last couple of weeks, o the throttle might need cleaned or something might need cleaned out in the fuel lines--it hasn't been a problem, o I haven't dug into it much. There is also a connection that is finicky somewhere between the rear turn signal/brake light that occasionally causes the left, ear turn signal/brake light to not light. The power locks don't work for the front doors, he A/C doesn't work very well--seems to just need a charge (awesome heat though), nd washer fluid switch on the steering wheel is likely bad. Only got the fluid to work on the front windshield once. Dent from previous owner's run-in with a deer on passenger door and rear fender. Hard-to-notice nicks in the windshield, nd a crack on the inside dash. I don't notice these things generally because to look and drive it they're negligible. The latch that opens up the spare tire rack on the back is also rusted, ut still works, t's just shorter than it should be. Front seat upholstery is worn in places, nd seat padding was re-stuffed. Only other thing is a slow drip from the base of the coolant reservoir hose where it connects to the bottom of the reservoir. Have to add a little coolant every month or so.
^That's all of the bad stuff I can possibly think of. But I've also got a lot of new money into it:New air filterFresh transmission fluid, an gasket, nd tranny filterNew Goodyear Wrangler tiresNew rear Wheel cylindersNew ceramic brake pads, otors, nd calipersNew southwestern-style headliner (but visors are still torn)New lug nuts all around and some new studs in the rearNew starterNew solenoidNew hose clamps on radiator hosesNew spare tire coverNew passenger side-view mirrorTwo full-synthetic, igh-mileage oil changes with synthetic appropriate Fram filters, irst one used an engine flush/rejuvenation, ext one to get the dirty oil out, ost recent change at 106,000 miles, o that's good for another 6-8,000 miles.Freshly greased hubs in front for 4wdNew Timken rubber hub ringsUndercoatingNew exhaust tipNew full-time helper leaf springs (I can keep these if you need some money knocked off of price and/or don't want/need them.)New locking lugs on spare w/keyReplacement radio with CD player
That is all I can remember at this point. 2.9L v6 is the better engine of the '89 Bronco II models. Automatic Four wheel drive works nicely, nly going on 109,000 miles, omes with a 1-7/8" ball on the bumper, eats fold down for extra space in the back, t's a solid ride, specially for the age.
Selling because I need a truck with a bigger bed. I'll definitely work with best offers, ut I've put too much time and money into it to let it go too much lower.
