Description

Rare 1968 Ford Crew Cab 4x4. almost rust free! Wyoming body on a 1977. 5 factory 4x4 crew chassis with integral power steering and married transfer case. The only rust on the entire truck is tiny spots starting on the cab corners. and a couple small holes in the tailgate. Drip rails. rockers. floor pans. core support. inner fenders. hood. bed ALL SOLID. Inside and outside of floor is painted in POR15. as is the inside of the roof and the bottom of the bed. and the inner fenders. Also the frame is painted with POR15. The truck needs paint if you want it to look great. or it has it's own patina. I haven't driven it in winter since I've owned it (2009). Newly rebuilt 390 with . 060" overbore. turned crank. professionally assembled short block. C1AE heads with factory 3x2 intake and NOS cast iron shorty headers. Comp 268H cam/lifters. new rockers/shafts. roller timing set. HV oil pump. 6-qt rear sump oil pan. awesome cast aluminum Cal Custom finned valve covers. Runs great with typically >70psi oil pressure. but has a lifter that makes noise intermittently. 9. 7:1 compression ratio makes a great setup for the street. Newly resurfaced flywheel with new clutch and pressure plate at time of rebuild. and has approx. 500 miles on it now. Electronic Duraspark ignition. I have been driving it to work every day since the weather has been nice. The seats have great new covers that look factory original. the dash is not cracked. The floor has a new molded heavy vinyl cover with extra insulation underneath. The headliner is in good condition. The heater fan doesn't work. I think it's the switch. The axles are both HD Dana 60's from a 1979 F-350 4x4. The front is the kingpin. high pinion disc brake unit of legend. They are 4. 10:1 ratio. There are anti-sway bars on both front and rear. Transmission is NP435 4-speed mated to a NP205 transfer case. both with Amsoil synthetic lube. New Champion 4-core aluminum radiator that does an amazing job. It needs some finishing details such as tires. tuned for best performance with the 3 carbs. throttle return springs improved. speedometer cable (I guess?). window felts installed. washed. dome light installed. and of course the big deal: paint. I built this truck to keep forever but it's becoming apparent that with 2 boys and a demanding job that I just can't make time or money to finish it. The lifter is an easy fix (you can get to them through the valve covers with a long-reach magnet) but I haven't found the time to do it and it's extremely frustrating. I have 2 other classic Fords including a very nice 1970 F350 crewcab and a 1969 F100 hot rod so I'll just concentrate on them.
