Description

1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt Tribute CarRare Rust Free Texas Car Solid Driver QualityThis is one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever built by Ford. this is a base model 1964 Fairlane 2 Door that has been built to look like the Thunderbolt drag race cars that Ford raced in the 1960's. The car is as solid as I've seen for an original non restored car. It has had some restoration work done to it through the years but I would call this car nice driver quality. The paint job is not show quality but it does present well. the door jambs are not perfect as you'll see in the pics and the bodywork is probably 7 out of 10 in my opinion. As with any purchase like this I always recommend that you have an inspection done on the car so you know what you are buying. I will represent the car as honestly as possible because I want you to know what you are spending your money on. The paint is a 6 or 7 out of 10 and looks good from 5 feet away. it does have some chips that have been touched up but overall it is a nice driver/weekend parking lot show car. The hood is the original steel unit with a fiberglass teardrop scoop bonded on. it looks like a decent job of installing it. the underside of the hood is painted and textured and looks fresh. The car also has fiberglass bumpers on it. minor damage to the front one. see pics of that. Body:All trim is in very good shape for this car. not all beat up. and it is all original Ford stuff. glass is good windows roll up and down as they should. weatherstripping looks to be new. The body is in good shape. bodywork is decent and no rust. Doors. trunk. and hood all open and shut correctly as they should. gaps are pretty good for an original car. The car has been painted at some point. it is not original paint. Shines good but is not show quality. The lights and wipers work as they should but the blower motor does not work. not sure if it is just a fuse or more involved. I'll look at it this week. this is a NON AC car. Drivetrain:This is a 289 or 302 engine. I didn't build or install it so I will tell you what I know about it. it does not smoke and it runs good. It has a mild cam in it and sounds great through the Hooker headers and 2 1/2" Flowmaster mufflers. The intake is an aluminum Edelbrock and the carb is from Edelbrock as well. it has an electric choke and it works perfectly. The car starts perfectly every time and idles great. it has a nice sound to it and it revs quickly. If I had to guess I'd say it is about a 280-300 horsepower engine. it runs as it should. has good oil pressure and runs 180 degrees. It has been converted to electronic ignition so it starts and runs like a well tuned muscle car should. The transmission looks to be a recently built C4 automatic. this is a 3 speed transmission and it works perfectly. kicks down like it should and does not leak. The rearend is an 8" unit with around a 3. 00-3. 40 gear. I don't know the exact ratio but that is my best guess. it drives good and you can drive it on the highway and it is not revved too high. The front brakes are 4 piston Ford disc that are new. the rear are drum and it has an upgraded power brake booster and dual master cylinder. The brakes work good and it stops as it should. The steering looks like it was originally a power steering car but there is no pump for it. It steers like a regular manual car but you could add a pump and lines and have power steering if you wanted to. The steering box has a little play in it but not bad. normal old car steering but it is in decent shape. The suspension and steering are good for this car. drives good. nice safe car. The wheels and tires are brand new. less than 500 miles on both. Interior:Brand new upholstery. new carpet. seats. headliner and they look nice. not a cheap job but a well padded seat job. The console and dash have been painted and restored. look great. There is one piece of trim missing from the dash. The radio works and is a new CD type unit that plays and sounds good. Gauges look great. the factory temp gauge does not work. but there is a water temp and oil pressure gauge that hang from the dash. There is also a good working tach on the dash. The shifter is a ratchet type and it works perfectly. The interior of this car is very nice. again not show quality everywhere but very nice and mostly new or restored. I'd put a 9 out of 10 on the upholstery overall. The trunk has been sprayed with a spackled paint that looks factory. No rust in the trunk either and it looks all original like no sheetmetal has been replaced. Overall:Again I'm listing this car for what I know about it. not a show car. but rather a very solid clean driver that you can pick at and make it your own as you go to create the car of your dreams. The best part is the solid foundation in a car that is very hard to come by. These cars are seldom brought to market in this condition and at this low price. Buy a piece of American Muscle that is sure to increase in value. This is not my first car sale so don't try any scams. all transfers will be wire transfer or cash in hand.
