The car has just over 2,890 miles since the work was done, and just received its official NSRA SAFETY INSPECTION CERTIFICATION at the STREET ROD NATIONALS SOUTH in Knoxville, TN this past May. The car is an all steel original body that was recently taken down to bare metal before being treated to an amazing House of Kolor KOSMOS RED finish that still shines like new today. As you can see from the photos and the video supplied, the finish still shines glossy, slick, and wet, and has less than a handful of miniscule little normal use marks on it but that’s it. The body is solid and clean metal, with no bondo, mud, or patched areas, and a 4x4 square inch magnet sticks anywhere you put it with ease. While the car was apart for paint, the owner decided to send all the aluminum and chrome out for professional polishing. It looks amazing, and really gleams against the red finish! From the original bumpers that have been tucked closer to the body, to the grill bars, hood trim, side moldings, trunk trim, and window trim, it all looks amazing and shines like new! Tail lamps with Blue Dots were installed with modern bulbs when the car was rewired, and new headlamps and front marker lights too. Glass on the car is in exceptionally good condition, with no cracks, chips or dings, and all the windows open and close like they should with recent seals, weather strip, felts, and scrapers. Pop open the doors and you see a clean, neat, and modernized interior with all the comforts you could need for a long cruise. Door panels are leatherette with banded cloth centers, and have matching armrest/grab handles along with NOS window rollers and door handles. Kick panels, rear side panels, and pillar covering is all matching leatherette and cloth insert, and it is all in fantastic condition throughout. Carpeting is clean, gray, automotive grade material that has been installed over a layer of sound and heat padding, with complimentary banded floor mats both front and rear. Front bucket seats and armrest are covered in a golf ball weave cloth, and show like new. They even carry the custom red embroidered 46 COUPE on the head rests. Rear seat is done in matching fabric and material, and looks like it has never been sat on! A FORD V8 logo is embroidered in the center of the rear seat back. Headliner and sun visors are in a contrasting material and look amazing in the car, and an overhead console was installed with dual map light provision as well as a storage cubby. The center console was custom fit to the car, and in addition to the matching padded armrest, it contains a cup holder, roll top storage cubby, and a large bin with storage area. It looks great too! Custom speakers are integrated throughout the car, and are fed tunes by a newly installed DUAL XD5220 AM/FM/CD/MP3 deck that works perfectly, and makes everything from Bach to Rock sound great! Seat belts for four make safe travels even safer! A tilt steering column was painted to match, and has functional tilt, signal arm, and gear selector. The wiper control is redundant, as the two-speed electric wipers are controlled via dash switch now. A BANJO style wheel with Ford V8 log looks amazing, and is covered in black leather. Dash, along with all the other interior metal, is painted to match the outside, and looks great! Chrome and aluminum trim and gauge surrounds on the dash were all professionally refurbished and look amazing! Dual ashtrays open and slide closed like they should, but no one has smoked in this car since at least 2000 and it has NO ODORS OF ANY KIND! Small gauge cluster houses the SunPRO gauges to monitor vitals, and the large Speedo/Odometer is fully functional and looks amazing! The clock on the passenger side doesn’t work, but it sure looks beautiful! The VINTAGE AIR A/C and climate system was installed and grafted into the cars lower dash for a seamless look. Chrome vents on each side, and dual center vents tucked behind the polished center grill, send cool air to all the occupants in the summer, and hot heat in the winter! A functional 12V outlet lets you charge up your cell or radar detector, and billet and rubber gas and brake pedals finish things off on the inside! The trunk lifts to reveal a cavernous space that can probably swallow 4 golf bags and 2 golfers! Car show chairs and luggage for four could easily fit, and it is finished and trimmed to match the interior, including the inside of the trunk lid! While the car was apart for paint, the owner decided to remove the previously installed GM powertrain in favor of FORD goodies, so the engine and transmission were removed, along with the entire original style front end the car was born with. A FORD 351 Cleveland motor was built for the car, with and estimated 325hp from a mild street build. It is fit with WEIAND finned valve covers, a polished aluminum air cleaner with reusable element, polished A/C compressor, chrome breathers, ACCEL Super Coil, hi-flow water pump, ribbed belt drive system, 180 degree thermostat, a new CHAMPION performance radiator with chrome overflow can, and more! It is matched to a rebuilt Ford C4 transmission, with highway friendly gearing in the FORD 9” rear end to allow for 75mph interstate trips. The car starts easily, idles cleanly, and has a nice healthy rumble from the custom fabricated exhaust system with dual mufflers and chrome tips. Put it in gear, and it is ready to roll, with PLENTY of power on tap for red light shenanigans and burn outs if that is your thing. Hit the street, and the smooth-shifting transmission takes you through each gear easily, and you will find yourself at highway speeds in no time! This car drove from Florida to Tennessee just a few months ago, passed its NSRA Safety Inspection, and then drove all the way back without any issues or breakdowns. It is ready to roll, and you can fly in a drive home as you please. Chassis has reinforced X frame, clean and neat original floors, drum brakes out back with lowering springs, and new progressive rate shocks. Up front, a MUSTANG II steering rack was ordered and installed with power steering, and installed with all new suspension bushings, control arms, springs, and lines. The car rides fantastic, and with 4 adults and car show goodies in the trunk, it rides like a modern car, even at cruising speeds! No wallowing, no diving, and no odd tendencies of any kind! Stopping is a breeze, and the car scrubs off speed without pulling, excess modulation, or odd feel. Steering is light and definitive, and the car has a solid on center feel that inspires confidence at any speed.
