Description

NICE VINTAGE 1966 FORD F-250

Rust free classic ford pickup truck. This was a 1-owner truck until the last few years. It was a grandpa truck, and used lightly. The second owner of the truck bought it and never drove it. I purchased it from him a couple years ago and had various plans for it but have decided to sell it. This is a nice, solid pickup. Almost perfectly straight too. Below are all the details on the pickup. I have many more pics I can send also. It is a nice old original pickup and very tight. I have many more pictures I can send.

MECHANICAL

This pickup has the 352 V8 with 4-speed manual. The motor runs nice and does NOT smoke, tick, knock, leak or miss. It looks to have been rebuilt at some point, but I don't know about that for sure. It runs cool with no overheating. The oil looks fine with no abnormalities. This has a 2-barrel holley carb. It does have headers with dual exhaust. The exhaust needs a little work or just redone, but it could be fixed. One tailpipe is gone. The motor starts up every time. It has not been driven regularly for years. I would recommend fluid changes and the usual tune-up things checked out, but it needs no major mechanical work. It definitely needs tires. These are older 16.5 size tires. Split rims in the front but not in the back. Big wide camper hauling meats in the back. 16.5 tires are readily available but a lot of people switch to the 16” size. I will include newer 16" wheels instead of the 16.5's if you prefer. I have driven this truck on the highway but not fast. It drives ok, but the tires are not only old, but bias ply. Bias ply tires never drove good when new. The suspension and steering all feels tight though so I’m confident it will drive great with new radials. The front-end has no clunking and no slop. It is the twin I-beam frontend, not a straight axle. The clutch and transmission work nicely, just as they should. Brakes work fine. I'm sure it would be good to flush/bleed the system though. The lights and wipers works. Heater and defrost selector works. The radio works. Flashers work. The 8-track works! This has dual auxillary fuel tanks that I have not tried to use. The truck is running off the original tank. I would do a basic tuneup, new fluids, and new tires and it should be ready to go anywhere.

BODY

The body on the truck is in very nice original condition. It only has a couple very small dings, and no rust-through. It came from dry eastern Washington area and I was told it had a pickup camper on it and that it was garaged most of it’s life. This has a rear bumper that extends out for a pickup camper. The doors, hood and tailgate all operate properly. The box, cab, fenders, doors, floors, inner fenders, hood, firewall, jams, tailgate, and frame are all dry and solid. The paint is actually in pretty nice shape for 50-year old paint and it still shines. The glass is in good shape. A couple chips in the windshield but it’s still completely usable. Overall, the body is very nice for an un-restored 1966. Note: in the pics it looks like there is a scratch down the drivers side of the box. There is not, it's just a reflection.

INTERIOR

The interior is original with the exception of the 8-track. It is not perfect but in pretty nice shape. The seat has the usual wear on the drivers side. Original reproduction covers can be bought to re-do it just like original. They are about $200. The dash has a couple cracks. I wouldn’t replace it myself, but new dash pads are available. The doors, dash/gauge area, headliner, floormat, etc. are in good shape. Seat springs feel fine. Overall it’s clean and all gauges work. 8-track and radio works. Lights and flashers work. Doors open/close fine and lock as they should.

OVERALL

This is a clean survivor. I would be proud to drive it as-is, but it would be an easy one to restore to mint original also.
