If you're a Ford fan, this 1970 Ford Torino with its numbers-matching 429 Super Cobra Jet is one amazing find. With a known ownership history from new, a high-quality restoration, and exceptional attention to detail, this is the Blue Oval equivalent of an LS6 Chevelle or a Six-Pack GTX. And with that in mind, the price shouldn't be that much of a surprise, because this is one serious Ford. The restoration was completed in 1999, but you'd never know it by looking at the car, as it still looks remarkably fresh. It was originally purchased by a Navy sailor in California and then shipped to Hawaii. The second owners were in Palm Springs, where it remained almost all its life. We believe that the mileage shown is correct and as I mentioned, the car is 100% matching numbers. During the 1999 restoration, the color was changed from code B Dark Maroon to a brighter light yellow that was also on the Ford color chart in 1970. The original flat hood was replaced with a correct Shaker setup, but otherwise the bodywork is untouched. That means original quarters, rockers, and floors, making this an incredibly solid, clean, straight car. Finish quality is what you'd expect on a car of this caliber and the contrast between the light yellow paint and the blacked-out hood is dramatic. Correct Cobra emblems, bright chrome bumpers, and other details make this a very accurate restoration. The code CF Ginger Turin Knit vinyl bucket seats is almost entirely original, which speaks to the quality of care this car has received. The carpets and front seat covers are new and the pieces are exact, so it looks correct throughout. This heavily-optioned Torino offers a center console housing the Hurst T-handle shifter for the 4-speed, a full set of gauges (including the unusual factory tach) and an AM radio, pretty much the right pieces for a car designed to go fast in style. The three-spoke steering wheel looks fantastic with its woodgrained rim and a few bright pieces of trim on the console liven things up inside. The Torino offers a genuinely roomy back seat, so this is a muscle car with room for family and friends, and, of course, there's a mammoth trunk that includes a correct mat and full-sized spare tire. In fact, that may actually be the original Goodyear spare tire that came with the car!The engine is the original, numbers-matching 429 Super Cobra Jet V8, fully rebuilt to stock specs and thundering out a reported 370 horsepower. Of course, everyone knows that this figure was a gross under-statement, and even in stock form, it's formidable. The only notable change other than the Shaker hood scoop is an 800CFM Holley, a replacement for the original 780 CFM unit. Ford Blue on the engine block, finned valve covers, a correct rev limiter box, and even little stuff like the belts and hoses, all add up to a show-quality engine bay. The Drag Pack SCJ also includes a factory oil cooler and 4.30 gears and a Track-Lok in the 9-inch rear end, making this car a serious threat on the street. The undercarriage was stripped and professionally restored using red oxide primer and factory finishes throughout so it's exquisitely detailed. A correct dual exhaust system sounds mellow but racy and it sits exactly right on gorgeous 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels with staggered 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear Goodyear tires.Documented with a Marti Report, receipts, and restoration photos, this is quite likely the nicest of its kind anywhere. Fast, beautiful, and with an awesome pedigree, this is a very rare find for Ford fans. Call today!
