OK heres something that only a select few will appreciate, but the ones that do will know exactly how EXREMELY RARE this is. Possibly the only one in the united states, Its a 1920 Model T "car/truck" thats had a RALSTON CHAIN DRIVE FRAMEKIT installed!! So its got a McCree 2 speed differential gearbox that will select between a general "high/low" gear. And it is NOT limited to slow speeds, this box allows a slow "granny" speed, OR a "highway" speed, or what the typical model T would run.Which is huge on this. Its a running DRIVING Model T!!!!! The body and all components are in very very nice condition. The story is that it was used on the docks in San fransisco and thats all it did was run lugguage/cargo from the docks to the fancy hotels on Knob Hill in the early days. It was later bought and owned (2nd owner as the story goes) by Glenn Bell, owner of THE Taco Bell chains!! His restoration shop "restored" itsome years ago. So yes whats here looks dated, and it is, but its in very good condition still and was stored indoors. The body has no issues of rust or damage to speak of, and looks to be original paint!! All the wood is absolutely great. The frame and frame kit are all super nice and clean. Its got the hand brake that works on the drums on the front sprocketsfor the chain drive, then a much larger brake system that works for the massive rear drumsfor the rear sprockets. It needs a handle hooked up, but is otherwise functional. The chains and sprockets are in excellent condition. Headlights work, ammeter works, mag works, ignition key works, its ALL totally functional. And transmission works great aswell, both forward gears aswell as reverse works great. Has a buggy style seat, and half the floorboards are there(and were made by the looks of them), just missing the flat bottom piece closest to the seat which is easy to make. I put 2 brand new Firestone tires and tubes on it, new battery, new ignition key, new belt, new gas cap, and radiator cap. Cleaned/rebuilt carb, aswell. Gapped original champion A25 plugs and coils, and fires on all cylinders andhas good compression, and like I say it runs and drives great! The ModelT club of America Museumwants the car very bad, but they do not "buy" vehichles, sothey want it donated or lent to them, and I have to getit sold. Its got the Horseless Carriage CA plates on it, last reggistered in 72/73. Unfortuneately the title was lost, so it has no title. But it not stolen, and the title im sure is still "clean/clear". It likely wouldnt be driven on the highways, so I dont think thats ever going to be an issue anyways, but a duplicate title should be easily obtained. Other than that everything Ive looked at and checked out on the vehichleis tight and in good working order, it really has no "issues", other than obvious stuff, like it needs a bed built, ect. Steering wheel has no cracks or anything, glass/windshield is original and ingreat shapeand the wiringlooks all "original" style, but Id think it must have been replaced at some point because its just so nice? All and allIts justin excellent shape!! Its got a hand crank and electric start, which Im told was standard after about 1918. Its also got body numbers on the passenger right hand floor "angled" part. The vin# on the engine says its a 1920, and the body number has a "-20" at the end of it, but doesnt otherwise "match" the vin that I can tell. Ive owned it for a short time, and got it from a good friend for services rendeered. Ive looked the internet up and down and only seen 1 other w a chain drive and it wasnt this Ralston kit. It was a display vehichle for the Harrahs Casino way back when and I have no idea if it was sold or??. Other than that one, THIS IS IT!! SO its extremely rare, please try and find another.theRalstonframe/chain driveseems to be possibly called a "farm kit", and is rated according to the chassis tag at 1 or 2 ton. Id call this one 1.5 ton personally. Its a work horse thats for sure!! Any other questions please let me know.
