I fell in love with this truck and bought it the summer of 1989. As far as I’m concerned it’s the best looking truck Ford ever put on the road. I bought it as a working truck for our family property. My two boys and I spent many happy hours in the truck experiencing life from the “old Ford” point of view completing chores and various tasks as they appeared along the way. It served our family faithfully in that capacity until 1998 at which time it decided to rest for a while due to various maladies. In 2006 it was restored and came back into service in much better condition than when I bought it. By that time I had moved and it could no longer serve its original purpose. I have been waiting patiently for it to reinvent itself, but have finally realized that I’m just hanging on to happy memories. So sadly, I have come to realize that it no longer has a place in our household and I need to let it go.
During it’s restoration the engine was replaced with a rebuilt 300 cubic inch straight line 6 identical to the original, it had some minor body work done, the tail gate was replaced, it was painted and reupholstered, new tires were added, and various other minor issues were addressed. Since the work was completed, we have put about 3500 more miles on it. It is currently in great running condition and looks really nice. The original radio is still in it, but it no longer works. I took it to have it inspected last year and discovered the floor pan had rusted through in a few places, so I decided to put antique tags on it for the time being. Those repairs were taken care of this summer, so now there is nothing that should keep it from passing with flying colors. When I bought it there was a sheet metal repair made to the bed just behind the cab spanning the width of the truck. It has since rusted through and probably should be replaced. There are some other minor rusty spots up underneath, but nothing of great significance. I researched its value extensively and came up with what I believe is a fair price. It’s just about what we put into it back in 2006. My truck needs an owner that is passionate about old trucks and will respect it and care for it. I no longer have a garage and this truck really ought to be kept in one. So, give me a call me if you’re interested at 434-942-0244.
