This is a 1920 Ford Model T Roadster pickup truck. It may have started its life as a turtle deck. This is what I do know:
It was acquired last fall and much has been done over the past year to make it more period and correct. The top and top irons are new. Neither were present when the car was acquired. The rear top brackets and hardware were installed. At one point, and for some unexplained reason, they had been removed. The appropriate top straps and hardware were purchased and mounted. The dash rail was replaced with a correct metal unit, in lieu of the makeshift wood piece it came with which was clearly incorrect. (We would call it a dashboard today.)Radiator has been flushed, oil changed, spark plugs replaced. The exhaust system is all new - manifold, pipe and muffler. It has a new battery. The battery cables and ignition cable are new and correct. The front left fender was re-welded and painted to repair a previous inferior sheet metal rip repair. Two rear lanterns were mounted where none existed before purchase, along with the appropriate rear mounting brackets. An electric horn was installed where none existed before purchase (prefer electric over magneto in the event one needs to use it immediately if the car is not running).A complete, new fuel line has been installed with a shut off valve on either end. It is period correct. All replacement parts came from either Snyder's in Ohio or from salvage yards. It runs on battery or magneto.
The passenger door will need further examination. It opens and closes, but requires a gentle hand.
I have never had it on the road. It starts and runs, but needs the expertise of a more experienced Model T person to have it run smoother and to get it roadworthy. This will/may require more work. (Someone to say this car can be registered and placed on the road.) Getting people in to help me do this has been difficult and I'm at the limit of my knowledge base to know what to look for and to do it correctly and safely.
It has the engine hood, which is in good shape. It was taken off while performing the fuel line work. The paint looks fairly new, though it has some minor flaws. Tires look good have decent tread. The car has had maybe two small oil drips in the time I've had it.
The Pa. license plates come with the car to the buyer who resides in Pa. Otherwise, I will sell them (both) in another auction. They are restored, correct and available for registration under YOM.
I can supply additional pictures, videos, etc. upon request. I will also assist the buyer with pick up/shipping arrangements and answer any questions. I am a buyer too, and will address any concerns or questions in the manner I would appreciate if I were purchasing.
This Model T is sold "as is." It needs to be prepared for the road. It appears that at one point it had a body off restoration. Underneath is clean and painted. The bed is either oak or ash with a functioning tailgate. Please be mindful that this is a 96 year old vehicle.
The vehicle is located in Levittown, Pa. If you are a distance, please consider shipping costs. I would highly recommend an enclosed transport vehicle if you have no other means of your own.
Many thanks for your consideration.
PLEASE NOTE: A sharp Ebayer pointed out to me the cloth covered wiring loom on top of the manifold in one of the engine pics. It was placed there while I was installing the new fuel line. It has since been placed back to its original position. Many thanks for the reminder and the safety concern.
