Up for auction is a VERY RARE 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 “R” Code 351 H.O. car. This car is 1 of 336 MACH 1’s equipped with the highly desirable 351 H.O. engine. The H.O. cars were ordered with 4-Speed manual transmissions, 9” reared with 3.91 gears and competition suspension. This particular R code was also ordered with traction lock differential, F60X15 raised white letter tires, power steering, AM/8track radio, and the MACH 1 sports interior. Go look to see if there are any other 351 H.O. cars for sale, they are scarce and don’t come up for sale very often. These cars were rated at 275hp and I will say, these cars are very fast. I have taken photos of the casting # and the date code of the engine. Casting # is: D2AE-CA and a date code is: 2M5. The RUG tag reads BJ1. The engine is date coded december 5th of 1972

This car is a survivor, retaining some of the original finish, code 6F gold glow metallic. With the exception of the carpeting, the interior is all original and it correct in its code GF ginger knotted vinyl. This car is overall over solid and mostly complete. There is some rust which I have photographed, the worst spot being the corner of the driver door. The doors shut great. The car runs really well, but does not like to idle. The 4-speed shifts smooth and does not pop out of gear. This car can be used as a daily driver with VERY little tinkering. The car has added ram air which appears to be an original set up.

The wheels are clearly incorrect and the tires will need to be replaced. The undercarriage is very solid with no rust. The car does show actual miles of around 94,000 but the odometer isn not currently working. This car is an excellent driver/project car that has the rarity of BOSS 351, BOSS 429, etc.. of this era. You will find 10 of those for sale before you see a 351 H.O.
