Description

Looking to sell one of my Mustangs. This car is absolutely beautiful, however I need to downsize my toy collection. I have done a lot to this car, still more to do, but these are always works in progress. These cars are a hobby of mine.
Open to offers, I can create a Buy It Now
Appearance:
New paint, carpet, seat upholstery, top w/glass, LX tail lights, new front bumper (original was cracked), Mach 1 hood, ghost flames on hood, doors, and deck lid, "5.0" emblem is also ghosted into the fenders. CHROME WHEELS NOT INCLUDED, COMES WITH PONIES SHOWN. CHROME WHEELS MAY BE SOLD SEPARATELY.
Performance:
DSS level 1 306 with gt40p heads and Ford Racing "cobra" style intake, tuned by Bob Kurgan, good for about 280hp at the wheel. Has an E-cam. Originally automatic, it was swapped to an Astro Performance T5 trans. New Ram clutch (previous owner didn't have the cable adjusted properly, clutch wore prematurely as a result), Spec lightweight flywheel, adjustable clutch cable with quadrant. Ford Racing aluminum drive shaft. Shorty headers, summit x-pipe, magnaflow mufflers, Cats deleted.
Suspension:
QA1 adjustable coil overs in front with tubular control arms (still on stock shocks), Team Z drag springs in rear, tubular lower control arms, double adjustable upper control arms, KYB shocks in rear. Quad shocks deleted. Rear springs have removable shims to adjust ride height.
Brakes:
Still has drum rear, fronts are still stock except for slotted rotors.
Top still goes up and down without issue, car is surprisingly clean for a midwest car. Some surface rust underneath, and on the bracing as is typical with these especially being its 25 years old. Has door length subframe connectors installed.
Things to consider, known issues:
-Hood release doesn't work, however the catch latch is still in place, hood is pinned anyway. I had planned to eliminate the hood latch, just never got around to it.
-Steering rack leaks a little and the power steering pump has the infamous ford whine when turning. I knew of this issue when I purchased the car, just hadn't gotten around to replacing the rack or the pump.
-Rear main seal leaks a bit, wouldn't be a Ford if it didn't. I replaced it when I did the clutch/flywheel and it came right back within a week.
-Needs front shocks, this car will slam going over bumps if you aren't careful.
-Could use an alignment as a BBK bump steer kit was installed due to the lowered ride height.
-I wanted to upgrade the brakes, as is typical with these, the brakes are weak
-Car was hit softly in the rear, barely noticeable but it was enough to put spider cracks in the paint (driver side rear corner). doesn't show in pictures, but it's there.
-1 nick on the hood, and 1 on the fender (stone chips about the size of your pinky nail each, crudely touched up by previous owner)
-inch long bit of paint missing from the edge of the passenger side door, this was there when I purchased the car, looks like the fender to door clearance wasn't right and they opened the door before fixing it. hard to see in the pics but its there, panel gaps are extremely close but there doesn't seem to be any rubbing anymore. Panel gap at the cowl looks wider on the passenger side than on the driver side. Both front fenders are aftermarket, I am assuming this was all done when the car was repainted.
-THIS CAR IS A 5 SPEED, IT WAS ORIGINALLY AUTO AND IS REFLECTED AS SUCH WITH THE VIN. IT IS A 3 PEDAL CAR. The reverse lights currently do not work as the car is missing the appropriate harness. The computer on the car is still the one from when it was automatic.
-Seats and top were originally white as were parts of the door panels. There is still some finishing to do with the interior such as the rear speaker covers need to be replaced. Also has an old Alpine CD player, no AUX or USB, sorry.
-A/C and smog pump both deleted
-one exhaust hanger missing (driver side tail pipe)
-one fog light doesn't work. I spent all of 5 mins diagnosing the problem, it will work when I jiggle the wiring harness (bad connection, bad wire?), also fog light glass was not installed properly, seal sticks out a bit. I'm knit picking now, but want to disclose everything. I have great feedback and would like to keep it that way. Honesty is the nest policy.
-One strut tower was repaired due to rust, looks like the other one is starting to show signs of surface rust.
I have listed the car as accurately as possible. If there are still any lingering questions, ask before you bid please. Pickup or delivery is the responsibility of the buyer, car is driveable and has proven to be reliable. I cannot and will not help with delivery. I love the way the car sounds, it has a great cam sound to it. This car could benefit from a bit more TLC this winter and will be a great cruiser in the spring. Keep in mind this is a 25 year old car (I have it registered as an antique here in Illinois), it's a fun car that can be driven while you work on it. Most of the big stuff has been addressed, and if I keep the car, the rest will be addressed as well. As I stated earlier, the chrome wheels are not included in this sale, this car is currently on the Pony style wheels pictured with decent tread. Car is garage kept, under a cover and kept on jack stands when it's cold.
