1978 Ford Bronco, Ranger XLT.

Truck is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Only about 3 hrs north of Montana. Because of it's age and "Antique" status, it is free to travel to travel without restriction worldwide.
(PLEASE DO NOT WRITE TO ME ASKING WHAT IT NEEDS TO GET INTO THE STATES... answer is, it needsnothing).This truck can travel from Canada to the States almost as freely as a bird from state to state.I've sold our vehicles to the U.S. and some worldwide now. There's been zero problem.

A couple quick highlights:
-2nd owner since new.
-Only 50,310 miles original.

This unit is remarkably rust free. It still retains most of the original paint on the underbody. It's just unreal in a lot of regards.
Strangely enough, there are 2 very isolated spots of corrosion. One on each side, at the very back corner. When the Bronco was new, there were big trucker type mudflaps installed under the rear bumper. Because of the positioning of the these mudflaps, any dirt and debris was redirected from the tires, off the mudflap, and deposited in the far rear body corners. I have a brand new lower corner panel for each side but, never got around to having them installed. The panels are included with this sale.
We originally bought this Bronco about 5 or 6 years ago, maybe longer. I'd spent several years searching off-&-on for for just the right one. I had one when I was younger, my uncle had one, and several relatives and friends. I was a great fan of the '73-79 body style, and especially the Bronco's. Unfortunately, each and every one I was so excited about going to see for many years turned out to be a mile'd out junkpile requiring everything, poorly restored, or corroded from underneath. Finding just the right Bronco had turned out to be far more difficult than I had imagined. Then, we found this one. It was a 1-family owned unit passed from Grandfather, to his son, who had subsequently passed it to his own son (original owner's grandson). Neither the son or grandson had used it much. After the original owner's passing, the Bronco had mostly sat - unused. After the son's passing, it sat - unused again. The grandson wanted to keep it but, had zero automotive knowledge. He was simply overwhelmed, and it sat - unused again.. That's when we bought it.
Now, I should say... buying a super low-mileage vehicle can be a blessing and curse. I knew that, and took the good with the bad. We replaced everything that needed replacing due to age, time, and neglect. This included, but is not limited to:
- Nearly the entire braking system. - From the pedal to the wheels. - New parts include: - Master cylinder. - Brake booster. - Hydraulic hoses. - Wheel cylinders. - Pads, drums. - Nearly each and every gasket and/or seal. - All engine seals. - Pan gasket. - Front seal. - Rear seal. - Timing seal. - Water pump. - Intake seals. - Transmission seals. - Transfer case seals. - Differentials. - Axle seals. - Entire fuel system. - Fuel tank. - Filters.
- Nearly every fuel line. - Fuel pump. - Carburetor. - Cooling system. - Radiator. - Fan. - Belts. - Hoses. - Ignition. - New distributor. - Distributor cap. - Rotor. - Ignition module. - Spark plugs. - Coil.
- Driveline. - U-joints. - Gear sets. - Steering.
- Tie rod ends. - Center link.
- Oiling. - New oil pump, screen, and pickup. - Electrical - Alternator - Starter - Battery - Cables - Connections

A few performance and driveability modifications were done. These include but, are not limited to:
- 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor. - 4 barrel Edelbrock aluminum intake. - To replace factory Motorcraft 2 barrel. - Better performance. - Weight savings.
- Platinum spark plugs. - 10 mm spark plug wires. - Higher output ignition coil. - Higher volume engine oil pump. - Aluminum radiator. - Far superior cooling. - Dual electric radiator fans.
Of particular interest is the factory OEM Track-loc posi. - Less than purportedly 3% of Bronco's built had posi.
- Only available with the factory trailer special package.
- 3.55:1 gearing. - Fully rebuilt. - Excellent traction!



All the work has been done professionally. No corners were cut. Altogether, there's been in the neighborhood of $10,000 worth of maintenance, longevity, and dependability improvements. The low original mileage is actual. This is a rare find.

Please keep in mind, that this isn't a perfect show vehicle, and I'm not trying to present it as such. To be on the safe side, I'll call it a project vehicle. The body and mechanicals are compliments of Ford Motor Company.
The look of this Bronco is thanks to Father Time, and Mother Nature. The original paint and it's "patina" look have been professionally enhanced. Although it looks oxidized, it was wet-sanded, then triple-stage polished to a glass smooth final product.From there, it was sealed, and is kept liberally waxed.
Alsomentionable is the factory chrome push-bar on the front bumper. VERY rare. I've only ever seen a couple of these, ever. It is a factory Ford item.
Only thing I was going to do to finish the Bronco was put in a new carpet (have one but, I opened the box and... it's beige). One day, we were maybehoping tohave it painted.As mentioned, the only rust is the 2 very isolated rear corner sections (new corner panels included with sale). The interior isin fairly decent shape, and isexceptionally clean. To me, that's the most intimate part of a vehicle, and just something I like to have clean-clean-clean. The vinyl may need a couple small sections replaced but, the original fabric is in excellent condition. Doorpanels, dash, and everything else is in great condition too. Nothing has really been done that sacrifices the originality. Overall, the Bronco is very solid, and absolutely fabulously clean.

And, well... there you have it. It's got definite plus's, perhapsa couple minus's, but... it's an actual, genuine, 2-owner '78 Bronco Ranger XLT.And, oh yeah... With only 50,310 original miles.
