Description

1965 Mustang Fastback GT350

For sale is a real 1965 Mustang Fastback. This is a GT350 Tribute car. The body style of this car is so sleek it is hard to imagine that it is 51 years old. It is an absolute honor to own. Pictures do not convey the sensation of the car.

The car had a 1975-76 sticker on it. It was only on the road for 10 years. The weather stripping is original and it seems to be in good shape. The doors close well. The rubber I saw in many parts of the car seems to be in good shape.

The icing on the cake is the engine and transmission. The engine has a high performance 289 code - C5AE-6015E which is fitting for a GT350. Many HiPO’s received this code as well as some standard 289’s. I am not sure, but I think this is a standard 289 because it has pressed in rocker studs and what may be standard main caps. Engines that receive this code have added strength. The engine is missing rods and pistons and some of the valve train. The transmission is a close ratio T10. Original Shelby’s were outfitted with T10’s. The transmission seems to go into all the gears. I am not sure of the shape of this engine and transmission. They probably need to be rebuilt. The car does not run and drive.

The undercarriage seems sturdy, in my opinion. It has been coated with rust-preventive POR 15. Some amateur has patched the undercarriage in some places but it still has a few minor rust spots.

My mechanic said it has a 9 inch rear end but I do not know for certain. The wheels are 14” Magnum 500s, the painted type. The carpet is new. The headliner is in good shape. The quarter vents seem to open and close properly. All the interior pieces seem to be intact and in fair-to-good shape.

The glass is in good shape. The window regulators work properly. The front windshield has a wiper scratch and a small ding, but not noticeable enough to need replacement.

The body is decent but may have a few dings, rust, and bondo in a few places. The paint job is rough with overspray and dust in the paint, but the LeMans stripe and side stripes do match. We have all seen Shelby’s where the stripe colors do not match (what an ugly site).

I am not sure of the condition of the fuel system or electrical system, but it seems to be all there. The car is missing the front bumper guards, but it looked so good without them I decided to leave them off.

The title is clear in my name. The VIN is 5F09C37xxxx. My phone number is 615-613-4166. Call me with any questions

I am selling the car as is where is and the new owner is to make arrangements for shipping.
