Description

This '37 Ford Tudor is named “Awl White” because it really is “Alright” and it’s “All White” – white paint and white interior and that’s all right! It was rebuilt over four years by local driving legend Red Coffin. He bought the car in the 50’s and held on to it until he was ready to turn it into his idea of a striking street rod.

This car is all steel – no fiberglass panels. We understand that it was faultless to begin with needing almost no metal or rust repair. Red used a Mustang II front suspension; he added a 350 V8 and a 700 R automatic transmission. It idles with a pleasant burble from the dual exhausts and makes a statement when you put your foot down. The car has an 8”Ford rear. The frame shows some surface rust but is solid throughout. The transmission shifts effortlessly and is controlled by a period correct shift level on the floor. The rear drum and front disc brakes stop the car as they should.

The rebuilt 350 V8 has less than 6,000 miles on it. It starts fairly easily and runs and idles well. There are no issues when driving with no knocks or abnormal exhaust discharge. The engine compartment could use some detailing however.

The base coast / clear coat paint is in excellent condition for an older respray. The grill, bumpers and door handles are in great shape too. The rubber seals are flexible.

There are many upgrades and features. Although it is fitted with an under dash Vintage air conditioner you can just as easily tilt open the windshield and enjoy the breeze. However the air conditioning does not work, probably needing a charge. On the inside there are some signs of wear on the driver’s seat and the rear arm rests are discolored. All the seat surfaces are done in white vinyl. The metal dash and door window trim are wood grained however some of the graining on the window trim is worn. It has a Jensen AM/FM/Cassette radio and VDO speedo, temperature, voltage and fuel gauges. The odometer shows 5,649 miles. There is a Lecarra steering wheel fitted to the tilt column.

The “reconstructed” Pennsylvania title to this car indicates that it is exempt by federal law from the odometer disclosure regulations and it is a “Street Rod”. The vehicle has a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issued vehicle identification number plate. The numbers match the title.

This car is sold with no reserve as-is, where is! The high bidder wins it.
