Seatbelts SELLER REMARKS The big Ford LTD was the top-of-the-line in 1969. and this handsome LTD hardtop offers full-sized luxury. V8 power. and a unique look that doesn't really show up all that often these days. Lots of recent work and a cache of spare parts also mean that this car is ready to enjoy without a second thought. For this price. there's really no way you can go wrong with this LTD. It's got a lot of presence on the road and the preservation of this mostly original car is very impressive. Good old Wimbledon White was still a favorite choice. and it works as well here as it does on a vintage Mustang or Thunderbird. The late '60s were a great time for big luxury cars and things like hidden headlights and lots of chrome were standard equipment. Obviously as a mostly original car. the paint isn't perfect. as it shows some scratches and other signs of use. but it has such a warm patina that we wouldn't change a thing. Contrasting pinstripes highlight the fender lines. particularly the curving quarter panels. which are laser-straight. Excellent proportions mask the true size of this car. and with big chrome bumpers and a single stripe of stainless along its flanks. it has a very sleek look. And no. that's not a padded roof. it just has trim to simulate the look. and the result is a very upscale look without the maintenance issues. Big cars always pay off with huge space inside. and the black bench seats in this LTD are both attractive and comfortable. You can't go wrong with basic black. and the cloth upholstery remains comfortable and stylish. even more than 45 years later. The wrap-around instrument panel puts everything right in front of the driver. including the AM radio. which is all the way over there on the left end of the dash. It does have factory A/C that's probably just a recharge away from being ready to go. and plenty of faux wood warms up the otherwise monochromatic interior spaces. Heavy-duty floor mats protect what appear to be original carpets and it's been decades since any 2-door has offered so much rear-seat space. The trunk is positively gigantic. and includes a brand-new full-sized spare tire up on its own shelf. The 302 cubic inch V8 engine is a willing partner. and despite the LTD's apparent size. it moves like a much smaller. lighter car. It's got a correct look with Ford Blue on the air cleaner and valve covers. and there are no major modifications from original specifications. With a good. deep cleaning this might be a preservation award candidate. but even as it sits you can see that there are no major issues or questionable "upgrades" inflicted on the car by previous owners. Recent work includes an electric fuel pump. electronic ignition. rebuilt radiator and power steering. rebuilt carburetor. and new front-end components. As a result. it rides and drives like a full-sized luxury car should. although the twin Flowmaster mufflers give it a very muscular rumble. The 3-speed automatic transmission is unobtrusive. and there's a beefy rear end out back with highway-friendly 3. 25 gears inside. Factory wheels with hubcaps and recent Hankook whitewall radials complete the old-school luxury look. Complete with a factory build sheet. title documentation. and a rather large cache of spare parts. this very affordable Ford represents an awesome first hobby car that's a little out of the ordinary. too.
