Bob Reilly at Rosner MotorSports is privileged to offer this incredible piece of American history. Our 1934 Ford “Contractors Special” is powered by its original flathead V8 engine. This pre-war work-horse was in regular service through the late 1970’s. Mr. Thomas Lockwood of Saw Mill Ridge Company commissioned the restoration and by the early 1980’s the truck was used mainly for show display and parades. These great trucks were relied upon heavily during the depression and in the years prior to World War II. They could always be found at WPA job sites military installations and were considered a staple of private industry. Strong reliable and durable these trucks reflected the attitude of the men and women who saw our country through some very tough times.
The Ford flathead V8 was introduced in 1932. It’s considered to be one of Ford Motor Company’s greatest achievements. It’s the first independently designed and constructed V8 engine that was deemed both affordable and suitable for a variety of applications.
In addition to the Ford flathead V8 these special trucks featured a 4 speed transmission heavy duty frame/chassis and the legendary Garwood dump body. The low side dump body on our truck is best known as a mason body dump.
The GarWood dump body was rightfully considered the best of the best. The body was designed and produced by GarWood industries. The firm was founded by famous inventor and power boat builder/racer Garfield “Gar” Wood. Many a flathead Ford V8 found their way into the magnificent mahogany boats designed and crafted at GarWood Industries.
Our 1934 Ford dump truck runs and drives great. The yellow dump body works perfectly complimenting the cab color to make this truck appealing in a traditional sense. We’ve priced our truck at $26990.00 plus tax tags and processing. You can own this wonderful piece of Americana by contacting Bob Reilly at Rosner MotorSports 540-287-4378/rreilly@rosnerauto.com
