Description

Up for auction is this 1956 Ford Crown Victoria Model 64-B Glass-top with the transparent front half of the roof. Very rare and sort after car that has been in my barn for 41 years so it’s sort of a barn find! This car needs a total restoration of everything and I mean everything but it is a very solid car.

For full disclosure please read the following statements carefully:

A. I want every bidder to know that the front half of the roof was replaced 40+ years ago because the (glass roof) channel was badly rusted and the water was leaking into the car mostly onto the seat. This car was (always) a glass-top but that area got full of dirt and pine needles and rotted out. Back then (1974-75) it was a ’56 Ford nobody really cared about it being a glass-top. The top section was replaced at Vedo’s Vette City in Warwick R.I. where it was also painted pink and black.

B. The photos really do this car justice. The paint is cracked crazed blistered and peeling. The pictures make it look much better than it really is. If you’re a bidder please keep this in mind I’m not trying to fool anybody!

The car was originally turquoise and white when new but it was maroon and white when I bought it from a friend in 1974. I bought it out of Providence R.I. but my friend bought it in Utah I believe. The motor is seized and I honestly don’t know if it is the original motor or not but it is a Y-block of the same vintage. I also had it converted over to stand shift at that time. The junk car I purchased for the (donor) roof was a standard shift car and every single piece was changed over from one car to the other including the column. It shifted perfectly but has now been stored for nearly 40 years. The mice have had a ball in it and it smells like it too! The interior is rolled and pleated not original Ford. The trunk floor and spare tire well are perfect. There is a little rust in the drivers side rear floor pan but very little. The passengers side looks good. Inner rockers look great except for one quarter sized hole I found directly under the passenger side A pillar. The drivers side rocker panel has a series of bubbles right at the lead joint where it joins the 1/4 panel but I don’t think it’s rust I believe it’s bubbled from the lead. The passengers door has about a half dozen bubbles at the front lower edge and about two or three bubbles at the lower rear of the same door. The bottoms of both doors are mint. The quarters appear to be mint also. The paint is 40 year old lacquer extremely crazed so it should strip very easily. I have a very nice straight grille that you’d want to re-chrome a very nice pair of parking lights (at my home in South Carolina that I’d ship after returning home around July 1st - I’m in Connecticut at the moment.) I have an after-market continental kit from the 50’s that goes with it a surface rusty (but very straight) ’55 rear bumper that would re-chrome nicely I personally prefer the ’55 bumper without the exhaust ports in it. There’s a N.O.S. California Car Cover that’s never been un-rolled that’s included (fits car with Continental kit) plus a small stash of additional parts that I can send pictures of. The wheels are 15” originals all 5 of them and the original jack is complete with lug wrench. I can be contacted for more photos and info at cliff@cbasley.com anytime. THE WHITE HOOD: I had a louvered hood on it and a tube grille in it for 40 years that’s why the hood is white. This is the original hood that came with it years ago the louvered hood was actually a ’55 much easier to de-chrome than the ’56. Would give the new owner choice of either hood and grille combo (one or the other). Original parking lamps are not useable with the tube grille. Can help load car rolls free tires hold air and don’t leak but you’ll arrange your own shipping. No B.S. with this car understand exactly what you’re buying!!!! Come look at it if you’re not sure of what it is. There are no titles in Ct. for a car of this age but ebay makes you select something so all I can give you is a bill of sale. (There is NO title or old registration available for this car please understand this....) The car hasn’t been registered in 40+ years. $1000.00 due immediately via paypay. Balance by wire transfer or cash only within 5 business days. Car is located in Danielson Ct. 06239. I will keep it inside until it’s picked up for a month or so but it must be paid for in 5 business days.
