1990 Mustang LX 5.0 NASA American Iron Track-Day Car

This is a turn-key track day car with a newly rebuilt motor. It needs only a driver. Between myself and the previous owner we have $25000 invested in it.I really loved tracking this car but I recently bought a Z06 and already have third track car so this one has to go.The handling is precise and adjustable with just a little throttle modulation. It goes right where you point it. The handling is also totally forgiving and the car can be drifted at will. The car sounds great it's fast and I can guarantee that it will turn low 1:34s at Willow Springs.

The motor is just rebuilt with less than 50 miles. I have not had it on a dyno but it should comfortably make 400 hp at the flywheel. The motor was built by Gear Driven Automotive and much of the other work on the car was done by Wild Pony Motorsports.

The car is available for test drives here in Santa Monica. If you can show proof of track experience then a few test laps at Willow Springs Raceway is a possibility.

Condition: mechanically the car need nothing other than that the new motor should be run in a bit more and the car should get a dyno tune. The car looks nice and I get compliments but this is a race car not a show car and although these photos hide some of the defects if you were to look up close you could see imperfections in the paint like door dings water spots and paint chips. The car has never been crashed and has never seen any rust. The interior is what it is—again it is not a show car only a track car. The wheels have some bends visible on the inside of the wheel but there is no vibration in the wheel. Tires are about 75%.

Engine: I don’t work much on my own car so for all the details I can have you speak to the engine builder. SVO ford racing Sportsman block .030 over bore with a torque plate. Crank eagle 4340 forged steel. Eagle rods 4340 forged steel H beam with 8740 cap screw rod bolts ARP. Custom main girdle with ARP main studs. J&E pistons. Edelbrook RPM aluminum heads with Manley stainless steel valves and chrome molly retainers and .010 degree keepers custom 5 angle valve job. Roller Rockers Ford Racing full true roller rockers 1.6 ratio. Miloden 7qt. road racing pain. Long tube headers.

Transmission and diff: Tremec T56 six-speed. Torsen differential.

Brakes: Griggs Racing rotors and calipers (front and rear). Motul 600 racing brake fluid. Stainless steel lines. Hawk HT-10s. Brake proportioning valve.

Suspension: full Griggs road racing suspension: tubular K-member and double wishbone front suspension Watts linkage in the back coil overs all around adjustable front and rear sway bars. Body and interior: Autopower rollbar. Recaro racing seats with 5-point harness. Rear seat delete kit. Lightweight fiberglass hood and fenders. Rear-mounted battery. Momo steering wheel. 18- inch Fikse lightweight 3-piece wheels. Federal RSR 595 track tires (140 tread wear rating).
